I recently purchased a 2001 GTS and would like to make some runs at the drag strip and possibly join in the fun at the V10 Nationals in Columbus. Are there any special requirements to run, like roll cage, fire extinguishers, etc? Thanks for any information.

IF YOUR RUNNING A STOCK VIPER ALL YOU WOULD NEED IS A HELMET,NOW IF YOUR VIPER RUNS IN THE 11'S I THINK YOU WOULD NEED A TOLL BAR.
I HAVE RUN MY VIPER ABOUT 4 TIMES AT THE DRAGS AND ALL I NEEDED WAS A HELMET.
SO START RUNNING AN I GARRANTY YOU WILL ENJOY IT.
YOU KNOW THAT SAYING."ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER"
AFTER THE DRAGS THEN YOU WILL START GOING TO TRACKS ALL AROUND.
TRY YOUR LOCAL AUTOCROSS TO ITS A BLAST.......
PEACE AND GOD BLESS :D :2tu: :usa:

NHRA changed the rules. You have to be faster than 11.49 (vs. the original 13.99) for the mandatory roll cage and driveshaft loops. Just a helmet if your running slower than 11.49!! :2tu:

The new 11.49 rule change is only for factory stock cars, so it's likely up to the particular track where the techs draw the line.

sorry forgot to add that the change was for factory stock cars. performance exhaust is allowed but they might get you on the headers, if they can figure out they're not stock. they'll never know about the roller rockers.
