"Engine Oil" light came on...

\"Engine Oil\" light came on...

Car was warm from a 25 minute drive. Stopped for 10 minutes. Got back in the car started it up an 15 seconds later the "Engine Oil" light came on. Pulled over shut car of and checked the oil and under car as best I could for leaks. Oil is at the mark where it has been for the past 6 months. Started car back up and light wasn't on. Oil Pressure gauge at low RPM is and always has been a hair under 40 psi. At higher RPM's it rises a couple hairs above 40 psi. Running Mobil 1 oil and K&N oil filter.

Thoughts on what would have set it off?

My bet would be that you have a bad pressure sensor, however, I wouldn't take a chance and I'd have it checked before you drive it much more.

That oil pressure sounds a little low to me, I don't have the stats -
just comparing to my car.

Thanks for the advice, I'll get it scheduled to take in and will also take better note of the oil pressure gauge. Now that I think about it, when under higher RPM 3500+, it is way above 40 psi, not near 60 I am pretty sure. Will check tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions...

Your oil pressure sender unit to the warning light will start leaking in the next few hundred miles. Change it now.
