Not to shabby..looks like you redlined third on the 12.2 pass at 109 mph....could hae easily been a 11.8 at 119-120 mph on that one

I think you just gave Twister a chubby by quoting viper ET's and trap speeds. :omg:

I did 12.2 and 116 in my 96 GTS first time out on street tires with tubes and filters only. Got that down to just a hair under 12.0 (11.997) and 120 with Hoosier drag radials and an added Borla cat back and HF cats third time out. Car is right on the rev limiter in third gear at 120. I went to bigger diameter Mickey Thompson ET Streets which should allow 127 or so in third gear, but I have not had a chance to get back to the strip on the new tires.

I am not big on smokey burnouts and generally drive around the water and then back into it for what tire burning I do. I don't like the thought of the front tires dripping water in front of my rear ones when I am trying to get traction.

Congrats. Nice times for your first time out. I was able to run 12.0 @ 120mph, very first run in my car. Only mod was a B@B catback exhaust.

actually the stock clutches are pretty much bullet proof up to 700 rwhp..Some people say 800 rwhp PLUS..

These cars were built to live at a road course...unlike the vettes that have clutch fade after a few 1/4 mile passes at only 450 rwhp

*sorry just had to give a good example of how solid the clutch is in a viper*

Well, I hit 12.0 @ 120 with straight pipes, k&n and old PS1's... (front tires flat spotted). I don't have the parts to go stock. Did any of these have DR's or all street tires? I swear I was shifting at like 5200 RPM because I thought 5500 was the 6k rpm spot, I was confused... and pissed on my way home when I actually looked at my tach. I don't look at it when I drive or race, just glance when it is near the top.

They should be on the PSs, as that was the stock tire.

I wonder if some of those times were achieved at Atco? Some tracks are just "quicker" than others. The trap speeds on some of those runs seem awfully high, although there are the occasional factory freaks. There's no way I could pull a sub 12sec pass stock. I just don't have the experience/skills. My 11.98@123mph was with smooth tubes, S&B filters, exhaust, and PS2s.

it takes lots of practice..can easily take 25-50 passes to really figure out the cars potential...
