In the February 20, 2012 Autoweek, in the article covering the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the following quote appears where they are talking about the GT field:

"The rest of the GT class was a mix of Mazda RX-8s, in their final year of factory-backed competition, some chevrolet Camaros and a Corvette, a Ford Mustang, a BMW M3 and a privateer Viper. But given the many Dodge execs present, expect a factory-backed effort for the new Viper next year."

I think most of us see the logic in going back to LMS/ALMS series, since the Viper had the FIA World Championship years ago. That was the place we were when we essentially left racing on a World Wide scale in some folks minds ( though privateer firms kept the Vipers active for years ). The idea of running a Viper against the Vette, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche has alot of appeal and I for one am looking forward to seeing the Snake back on the World Stage.
