Yikes! It could have been worse, but thankfully the car exhaust was cool when the fuel filter parted company with the fuel line, subsequently drenching the the rear bottom with gas. I changed the filter just 200 miles ago, and never had a problem like this before. The filter and clip on the fuel line would just not hold together even after numerous trys. Now I tried another filter, and everything seems to be holding together. I have to admit though I am paranoid that the end on the fuel line may be defective. I would hate to have the line blow on a hot exhaust and rear end 100 miles from home. ( I know, replace it) This sucker is probably expensive not to mention a hassle to install. Anyone have some similar experience to share before I throw more parts at it?

Chances are the defect was on the fuel filter clip. They should pop on without any drama. If not, there's a problem. Glad it didn't turn into a scary ordeal for you!
