GTS Rims made of?

Are the '96 GTS rims Aluminum?

I found this guide to strip the clearcoat for cheap? Is it a good winter project?

They are aluminum, but they are a cast rim. They 97&98 forged rims polish out to a higher shine.

Don't waste your time trying to polish the '96 wheels. I stripped, buffed and polished for 2 days on mine, and they still looked like dull aluminum. The shine was no where near the 97-98 wheels, and you'd be miles ahead if you just got a set of the newer ones.
