I am going to wrap my headers (lots of heat=melted heater fan and intake).

I saw on the SVSI Viper it uses heat wrap or a sleave. Does anyone know what they are using, and if you have wraped or sleaved your headers, please let me know how it worked, where you got it, and what it the cost was.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

I used the factory heat sheilds over my headers. Looks stock and addresses the heat issues. If you want to go with a header wrap you might want to look at Thermotec
You must be registered for see images

You can also get Thermotec from Summit Racingfor:

1 in. wide x 50 ft. long, Thermo-Tec header wrap $23.88
2 in. wide x 50 ft. long, Thermo-Tec header wrap $35.88

I just ordered some wrap to cover my side pipes (SRT) in an attempt to cool them down. Should work good due to this section of pipe being WAY cooler than the headers.

header wrap is bad will also corrode headers, stick with heat shields and jet coating. Then maybe put the heat barrier on anything close that might get warm.

Mike, I have TNT headers with jet hot!

Mark,
Sounds like your best bet is to use the factory heat shields. They shouldn't have any problems fitting over the TNT headers. The heat wrap doesn't look real sharp after time.

I agree, header life is greatly shortened by wrapping, traps moisture.

I heard the severe heat that is retained from using the header wrap fatigues the metal so after a few years the headers literally fall apart. I was going to wrap mine but decided not to after I heard about that. Also agree it could trap moisture and speed corrosion.

Did the jet hot coating not help? Did you have the satin finnish. I am having mine done with the 2000 degree black coating.

Mark,

The factory heat shields fit over the TNT headers without any modification. With this set up, I have never had any heat related melting issues under the hood and have been known to drive the car quite hard from time to time. :D

Regards,
