Holly cow fuel mileage 2008 Viper !!

After the Viper Roundup I attended in Round Rock, TX this last weekend on the way home I filled up with gas and ran 162 miles at 80-90mph in six gear. I stopped and filled it up, it took 5.4 gallons. Do the math, holly crap. I could not beleive it and I'm some others may not either. I was thinking of around 24mpg but my 555rwhp Viper just sip's the gas I guess.

I once measured 27.5 mpg in my '95 RT/10... could have a been a fluke or pump calibration error but I was driving 60+/- in 6th gear.... and going light on the throttle...

At 80-90mph I'd say you probably got a deal on gas due to a calibration error... got more than you think or paid for... IMO

Downhill with a tail wind? Draft behind trucks at all?

Pretty flat "Texas" there was a 20mph wind mainly from the side but could have been behind some of the time. No drafting, there were very few cars on the road early that morning.

If you were heading east of the pan handle, it was surely the vacuum coming from Oklahoma.:D

Going across South Dakota on I-90 held the speed at 75 mph for 198 miles. Stopped at a truck stop to take a break & top off the tank it only took 5.8 gallons. They have better fuel than here in MN no ethanol. The best I can get here is 21 mpg.

Its got to be the color!!! The most fuel efficient one out there. ;)
I have seen a few of the 08/09s getting in the high twenties. Not sure why there is a gas guzzler tax...

I have to say that is an incredible color in person. It was nice talking to you and seeing that beautiful car.

My 2009's mileage has surprised me too. It's quite a bit better than the 2006. Likely a function of the cam in cam technology and a better computer tune.

My 03 gets 20-22 mph doing 90 mph is 6th gear but only 16-17 mph at 65-70 mph in 6th gear. I guess you just have to find the sweet spot.

I got 24+ driving from Columbus OH to Ellicott City MD in my 03.

My usual however is more like 14 or something.

I got 26mpg once when I drove from Houston to Orlando in my 01 ACR.....granted I was drafting behind the moving truck. :D

I laughed at my wife who was in our 01 Kia Optima SE V6 at the time....I got better mpg than she did. But it was because she was stuck in 2nd gear due to the speed sensor on the trans died. She got about 17mpg....

And it was a 510 stoker w/ heads, cam, exhaust...the rest was stock 565rwhp 610rwtq. :D

On the way to VOI 9, we did a fuel mileage test in our Vipers. I got 34 with my 94 and another member got 31 or so with his 95.:headbang:

Of course, this was before heavy mods.:drive:

I've gone 300miles on one tank of gas (back from Tx2k9) with a lot of "spirited driving" on the way back. Best I've ever calculated is 25mpg. It does like doing 90-100mph in 6th, more than it likes 80mph.

I've got 25mpg a couple times, each time on the way to FL (so downhill from GA :D ). I was dancing at the gas pump each time :D . Usually I'm high teens on the hwy (70-80mph, 6th gear) and low teens in the city.
