I think we all no the volume in prod challenge really. This is why I push the mopar pkg option, the could offer kits like FRPP and others and not even worry about aftermarket. Tony's right, the point is we want the viper, hec otherwise we'd all be in a another forum by now. It kills me that I just spent $1400 to get a brown box that delivered 140hp to my door for my '14 GT500. 717rwhp result for 2 hrs work and less $ than a set of tires and I PASS EMISSIONS IN MD. Yea the last part is huge to me. I could spend a ton of cash to mod a gen4 or 5 but then in 2 yrs I'm effed in the A because of MD OBD scan. If I didn't like to tinker and personalize my cars I guess it'd be no big deal since the gen5 doesn't need more HP to set road course records, but the hobby is more than that to me. Personally I'm starting to really debate where I want to go in the spring with the car. I'm really hoping for some news from SRT that's more than yet another friggin shade of blue.

Just spent the week at SEMA and had some eye opening discussions with people who work with Chrysler and Ford supplying them specific parts and programs. I'm not naming names, but think of companies like Roush and Shelby. Apparently the thinking at Chrysler and Ford is to get away from supporting the aftermarket and offering programs through them and supply everything themselves. Notice the new Ford Mustang with supercharger is an all Ford product. The OEM's don't seem to care about the past relationships, they are only in it to get more top line revenue. This is the business plan of the future.

Mopar has very little quality support for upgrading parts on modern muscle and the price they try to charge just blows their parts out of the water. I've heard complaints about both Ford and Chrysler, but not GM yet. One company that has been a long time Chrysler partner was at the show and they are just at a loss for words. Ford will be a lot better at supplying parts through FRPP but they have the advantage of a huge market share with lots of vehicles using similar motors, etc.

So if you think Mopar is going to give you a quality product at a fair price, you're going to be disappointed. (even people within Chrysler do not like how Mopar structures the parts sales and often times never even sells the parts the Chrysler people want to offer to their customers). Mopar is always going to be 3 to 4 years behind the curve on what is hot and relevant. Just look at how they've handled the aero kit for the new Gen 5.....

Wow is all I can say about my new Vette!!!! Love it and still get to keep the 04 Viper!!!! I'm the Guy SRT wanted and I purchased a Vette over the new Viper!!!!! And now she sits at the airport waiting for my return. Lets face it SRT dropped the ball. What something like 400 cars sold in (13). 5000 Vettes and counting. Yes you will see them on every corner but isn't that the point too sell cars!!! Get people driving them. The SRT dealer was sending his floor models to auction as two of his cars customers declined. Flame suit on.

You and I are both the customers SRT wanted for the Gen 5. I picked up a Gen2 GTS and sent it off for a TT build and I'm keeping the Gen4 (mostly stock) and daily driving it. AND I STILL SAVED MONEY OVER BUYING A NEW G5.

Did I want a G5 yes. But after driving it, it really wasn't all *that* much better than a gen4 (add a CAI, ported intake, headers/exhaust and 3.55 and its faster) It felt basically the same but with a nicer interior (who's style I didn't really care for). I figure for the price it should at least have lumbar and heated/cooled seats in the GTS. I almost picked up a ZR1 but decided to at least stay viper for a little longer. At the rate they are going I doubt i will buy another Mopar product and I've had one mopar or another for almost 25 years.

I guess the good news is you can stop complaining about the Gen V finally.

MOPAR has been a complete disappointment.

$12,000 for the Gen V Carbon Fiber Aero kit, when it is $4,000 when you order with the car.

Get the f-out.

Same thing happened when the ACR aero came out, it was like $30,000 or some crap when ordered through dealer.

my feeling is once Chrysler spins off of FIAT in a IPO the reguvinated company will want to set themselves ahead of the pack. in my opinion the easiest way would be to allow the modification of the already existing powerhouse.

Source? $4k is already too much, $12k is completely insane.

If you look up the parts through our Dealer Connect site that is the retail pricing they have listed, $12,090 actually... I have since called and Emailed about this, but have gotten nowhere even though I have had 5 inquires about purchasing them. No buyers at that price though, surprise...

Nice! I wish mine came with the black wheels. I'm thinking about painting them gloss black, but I might just order an aftermarket set.

Great looking car. Congrats. I saw two new Vettes in Coconut Grove this past Sunday parked one in back of the other. I was impressed with the fit and finish. The car looks even better in person than in the photos. It is aggressive. It will be interesting to see what the higher performance variant to come looks like. GM seems to have a good marketing formula. Produce a lower priced Vette first. Drum up interest. Then produce the higher priced monster. It's a simple strategy but it seems to work well for them.

I saw a white, black and silver on three separate occasions on the road in Hilton Head this week. They all looked sharp. Rear end looked better than what I recalled from Detroit auto show. GM has done a good job on this edition. While I saw many other nice cars in HH I did not see any vipers of any generation.

what transmission is in that c7? Turbo400?
If you put a turbo400, drag radials, 200 shot of nitrous on a gen 5 you will be well into the 9s also.

Turbo 400??? May want to move into the 21st century. Corvette hasn't used that in decades. Try the 6L80.

Good luck adding a 200 shot without being able to manipulate fuel pressure in the car due to an ECM that no one has been able to hack into. Or even cares to, due to a lack of ROI.
