Hey All.
My name is Gabe and I've been on the board for a year now yet relatively quiet and learning a lot from all of you. My car is a 99 Silver/Blue Stripe GTS and the car is located in North NJ. I recently got involved in the Speedwerks group buy for Iforged wheels and wanted to share my experience.
First off, Matt from Speedwerks is a class act despite this group buy being a $hitstorm for him. My advice is that waiting for a groupbuy to come together (for wheels) and then waiting another 10 weeks is a pain in the ass and wasn't worth the savings. Matt's prices and service are great enough normally that I wouldn't wait for the groupbuy if I had to do it all over again. Thank you Matt for EVERYTHING!
As for Iforged, I was a little disappointed and I emphasize a "little" cause i'm a pain in the balls which Matt will confirm. The packaging was inconsistent in that some wheels came with foam paper on them and others didnt. The finish on one wheel near the lugs needed to be re-polished by me which is unacceptable when you spend $4k on wheels. I also found a small defect in one of the chrome lips while waxing the wheels prior to driving the car which ****** me off. The best part is, I tried to take 30 pictures of both imperfections which was futile cause these badboys were so shiney! As per my discussion with Matt, Speekwerks and Iforged would have done anything I wanted but I just couldn't wait anymore and just dealt with it. Overall they look insane and I figured it's only a matter of time before these NJ roads cause some chips in the lips!
The good news...THE WHEELS LOOK BANANAS! Matt gave me great advice while sourcing the right wheel for this color car. I went with a 20"/20" combo (3" and 5" lip) with Nitto Invo's. I also recently dropped the car with Eibach's. Let me know your thoughts (if the pic gets uploaded right) and I hope to get better pics soon! This pic definitely doesn't do it justice!
Again, although I may sound salty, this was an amazing experience despite the wait and some minor bumps. ANYONE looking for wheels are in great hands with Matt from Speedwerks. I look forward to doing business with him again in the future.
By the way...sorry for the long post!
