Jeff Morey\'s cylinder heads make 558 hp

Just finished 2000 GTS cylinder heads by Jeff Morey. He's Team Viper & Chysler cylinder head design team member. On the design team for Gen1 & Gen2, as well as '03 Viper cylinder head. He is now doing cylinder head modifications for Viper upgrades. His engine package is the one used in the One Lap of America Viper. We also used Arrow Racing's new cam shaft, Balanger headers, Borla 3 inch exhaust, high flow cats from Jon B. at the Parts Rack and T&D rockers. We did a block up rebuild, clearancing rods and mains, and setting end gap on piston rings. We think that 558 hp and 605 ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel is a nice return on a normally aspirated engine. No nitrous, no pinging, and no burnt pistons.

Re: Jeff Morey\'s cylinder heads make 558 hp

Ken,

This sounds to me the way to go with none of the hassles of bolt on NOS, Turbo’s etc.

What’s in the works for the GEN 1 heads and what is it worth?

Thanks

A good head/cam car with exhaust will make 560 to the TIRE, not flywheel.

Are you sure you are not talking about RWHP? 558 FWHP is 474 RWHP. You should get that with full exaust and rockers alone.

558 at the flywheel is about 470 to 480 at the tires. A gain of about only +/-78HP. Are you sure you are not talking about RWHP and RWTQ? With exhaust, roller rockers, headers, cam, block setup, WITHOUT the heads you should be easily way over 500HP at the crank. A stock Viper has about 450 - 460 give or take at the motor.

Heads ported and polished, with stock valves, t&D roller rockers, Borla headers, stock cats, Borla cat back, K&N filters, and smooth tubes I made 498 rwhp.

I certainly hope that was RWHP, but based on the TQ # I suspect it is indeed BHP. I'm with the other posters -- that's not a particularly impressive result for the modifications mentioned. APEX, TNT et al make 540+ RWHP with a heads+cam package; my RT made 515 RWHP with heads and the stock '01 cam.
