They won't publish this, but just get tired of people saying the SRT-10 looks like a cfive.

Dear Editors:

In the Mail section of your September 2002 issue, there were two Brand X Yahoos who stated that the new Viper looked like a C5. Well, let’s take a look at the front end of both cars. The new Viper has a hood scoop, louvered hood, exposed headlights, a “crosshare” grill and large, round fog lamps. The C5 has none of those.

To the rear, the C5 has a flat, billboard rear with four oval tail lights and four tail pipes. The new Viper has none of those.

On the side, the C5, new in 1998, has a small, feminine side scoop, which it tried to copy from the very large, manly side scoop of the original Viper. The 2003 Viper has a deeper and larger scoop than the 1992-2002 Viper.

As far as the interior goes, the only similarities are that both cars have a steering wheel and two seats.

The bottom line is that the new Viper is a beautiful work of art as are the 1992-2002 Vipers, while the C5 remains ubiquitous and mundane …with a large butt that no one will ever copy.
