I raced my buddy in his x50 and I have to tell you that thing hauls ass. My car only has 300 miles on it so it will be faster with miles. I beat him most of the runs but not buy much. I would beat him by one or two cars. Thats is crazy my car puts down 600rwhp. I think the 911 x50 makes like 450 crank I should of pulled him a lot harder. Oh well still won.

A properly driven 600 rwhp Viper would absolutley DESTROY a stock X50, given equal drivers. It should put 10+ cars on a stock X50.

The Porsche TT, X50 or not can be tuned to well over 700hp by software, waste gates, boost and other stuff. I don't have the X50, but the German auto specialist that maintains mine offered 120hp for about $3500. Thats 415 + 120, not too shabby. Along with that awd, active suspension, et. al., it's not nearly as difficult to drive. With my tiptronic, I never worry about hooking up or when to shift. Too simple. For the same money we put in our Vipers, i.e. $25K+, the Porsche becomes a f'n monster. I'm sure the guys at the P board know all about what trick stuff there is for them. Respect. Porsche has always delivered much less than it's capable of for production vehicles. I'm sure reliability enters the picture, also. I have always enjoyed my Porsches and will continue to do so.

I'd rather keep mod'ing my Viper, not as technical and electronically sophisticated, more fun to drive, looks and sound more aggressive and most of the time that's all that is needed.

I used to have a 2003 X50 and it is a very fast car. It ran 11.7/124.7 when it was 90 degrees out. And they are easy to modify with $$$.

Fadi I know I was suprized! My car should have put at least 8 to ten cars. I had the Viper in its power band. My shifting was slow. When the Viper is new the shifter is kind of notchy.

If you look at the times for the porsche turbo vs the viper (all stock), the porsche wins. With the viper running 600hp, unless traction is the issue, I would think the viper show win by a lot. I love both cars, each for different reasons. :D

Viper D it was from a roll every time we raced up to 130 or so. I would stay in front pretty well, but he was right there by a car or two. My shifting was way slower I can shift way faster in the GT.

I have'nt reaced the two yet but I think the GT would pull on the Viper. The GT has power that just goes on and on. I did a program with an SCT programer and now the GT will rev to 7000 but I shift before that. I don't know for sure I will just have to run em

I will be glad to run you in the GT. Our Vipers are basically twins afterall! It would be great to find out once and for all if it makes sense to mod a Viper or just go for the GT and save a lot of time.

I have never seen a X50 trap at 123.6 mph before. It also cant brake as good as the Viper. It also doesn't look as good. Sorry, a little off topic..:)

The comparison is just lame. A NA porsche doesn't stand a chance against a stock Viper. Level the playing field. Throw a TT into a Viper and let the fun begin!

Yes it is fast, but not as fast as the Viper.
Apples and Oranges.

What does this mean regarding the issue of the BETTER automobile?
NOTHING

Last week I put my order in for the 997 turbo cab S (x50)w/tiptronic with my local dealer. I am second on their list. The new programming has it faster than the 6sp. Should take delivery on it sometime 2007 when I'm ready to turn the 996 in on it's lease. No open top 997 turbo, no more Porsche for me.

When the next generation of open top Vipers is ready for ordering, there is a good chance I will buy another and keep the SRT-10, too many mods to ever give up and too much fun. No open top, no more Viper for me.

Loyalty to brand is directly influenced in the brand's loyalty to me. As long as I can buy fossil fuel, I will find something else.

Apples and Oranges. I respect both.

Melanzana, I have an 18psi pulley but have not installed it yet. Did they have to put a new program or was it just swap and go mod?

And you won't see it on a stock viper.
