Well I got caught in a bad rain storm in Vermont today on Route 89
South. The road was full of standing water and I hydroplaned out of
control going backwards about 70mph. I slid off the shoulder, through
some high grass and ended up stopped backed against a granite wall.

I wasn't driving my Viper, I was driving my Lotus Esprit.

Markus- Now I know exactly what you mean when you lost your GTS the same way.

I am all right, perfectly fine. Not a scratch, I didn't even throw my
back out.

The car however sustained some damage. I am going to need a new rear
bumper, rear lower valance and the (fiberglass) tail light surround. The tail pipe was bent around on the muffler/silencer. The front
valance moved backward about 1/4 on the passenger side, and there is a
stress crack beside the passengers head light pod that will have to be
repaired.

The car goes perfectly straight down the road. In fact after the tow
truck pulled the car out of the shoulder, we straightened the exhaust
pipe and I drove the car home 2.5 hours.

I consider myself very lucky, I'm bummed about the car. Weather report
had the rain starting after 4pm, I'd have been home by then.

Man, I read this with some serious apprehension. Thrilled to see you're OK Jeff! Sorry about your Lotus but pleased it wasn't your "real" car. ;)

Hey Jeff,

Sorry to hear of your accident, but very glad you're okay! Do you know of a place that salvages Lotus'?

Regards,
Aaron

Guys- Thanks for the kind words.

Aaron- Body parts are extinct, only used off parts cars. The car is a 1987 HCI Turbo.

Jeff, sorry to here about your accident. Thank God that you are OK. You should have been driving a big white Buick. They have gone "Air borne in Detroit" without any damage!
I hope that you can get your CAAR repaired.

When I saw the title and my name I knew immediately what has happened to you...Sorry to hear about your accident, Jeff !!!

GOOD TO SEE YOUR ARE O.K. - the car will be repaired in a few months - doesnt sound to bad since you drove it home.

One of our members lost control in the wet at above 100 mph on the autobahn last week ... another snake bites the dust! Luckily the driver went away with NO injuries

Glad you're ok, but you should still get checked out though. Sometimes, the damages to the body aren't apparent until a few days later.

Some body parts and a new pair of underwear. All in all I'd say your're lucky. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt.

Baz- I keep a copy of SJ's Catalog under my mattress, and they know me by my Boston Accent on the phone. The link you sent is more complete and shows everything I need. Thanks for that!
