Michelin Pilots city driving \"Tire Pressure\"

Finally after a long winter, "the beast" is out again. I probably asked the same question every spring but can't remember the correct answer.

What should the optium tire pressure be for city/highway driving? (I never believe the manual)

For Pilot Sports on a Gen I/II, I use 32 front 36 back.

Varies by track and alignments specs.
Reading the outside, center, & inside tire temps. usually has us at 29 LF, 28 RF, 27 LR & 26 RR for a right hand track. Opposite for a left hand track.
You fine tune from there based on driving style, and again, you 3 tire temp. readings.

We run whatever PSI gives us uniform tire temps. across the 3 areas of the tire, outside, center & inside. The tire surface will work best (adhere) when they are uniform. And Yes, there are Michelin engineers at Viper Days and they approve of this for track events.
Sounded wacko to me too, until everyone with 32 PSI+ was slower!

Inside door jam on my 01 says 29 lbs. When I brought the car out of storage about 10 days ago, I started lowering the pressure from the storage pressure of 40 lbs. Decided to take it out for a spin with 35 lbs and spin it did. Couldn't get rear traction for anything. 6 lbs makes a big difference with stock Pilots.

29 all around is optimal.31 is harsh and makes the car skitter.Interesting formula from flyby.Have used 31 frt,29 rear at track because of push.Flyby's #'s adjust stagger and weight jacking on a road course. GTS Bruce
