Here's an action vid: http://vimeo.com/25110628

I'll post the 2:26 vids with traqmate overlay after I'm done editing. The car could have done 2:25's but my tires kept getting worse and worse and I hit a lot of traffic. I'm guessing on a good set of tires it can go a 24, or if I use a lot more track (removing my margin for error) a pinch faster. I reserve a lot of exit rumble strips.

The setup for the weekend was as follows:

2006 + Aero

Front: OZ 18x11 Wheels, Hoosier R6's 295
Rear: OZ 18x13 Wheels, Hoosier R6's 345

Moton Clubsports, all adjustments at middle setting.

Springs:
Front: 900lb Hypercoil, Rear: 1300lb Hypercoil

Ride Height:
Front: 4", Rear: 5 3/8"

Camber:
Front 2.1, Rear 1.5

Toe:
Front .090 out, Rear .120 in

Corner Weights
Front: 837 834
Rear: 824 819

I really focused on tire pressures and temperatures. I like a hot psi of 38-40 in the hoosiers. 32-36 range the car is mushy in heavy braking.

It was a sunny day with highs in the 70's I think.

I started out with cold pressures of:
30 30 (front left front right)
28 28 (rear left rear right)

After the first session they went up to:
38.3 37.3
38.3 36.1

They were the same after the second session as well.

After the third session I decided to exit right in the middle of a HOT session so I could grab the tire temps as quickly as possible.

156 163 172 ... 167 151 141
173 184 191 ... 201 183 158

39.4 38.4
40.5 37.7

This data really shows how little the right rear is used at RA.

My setup guy was also at the track and suggested we could run more camber but also suggested I do similar tests at other local tracks to help dial in a well rounded setup.

Overall I was very pleased with the car. It does push but I like it that way. It's very predictable and still extremely fast. 90'ish through the carousel, 160 into the braking zone in 1, etc.. It's more than fast enough.

Also, the new ride height worked very well. I never had bottoming out issues and the car was still super easy to control. I may consider lowering it 1/4" or so but I have to take the car out to autobahn and purposely hit some of the bumps to see how it handles.

GT Track Days.

There are a few more track days at RA this year. Shelby club, BMW club, etc.. The schedule should be on Road Americas site.

Thanks!

The Shelby Club has a 3 day event in August, 5-7. Saturday is already full. I'm signed up for Sunday. If any of you guys plan on attending let me know so we can try to meet up.

Keith, video looked great, nice driving and it looks like a very fun track. Glad you got your viper sorted. Also good to hear you adjusted the ride height and the car stopped hitting the inner fenders and it handled well. Couple of comments (for what it's worth) ; some of the local guys are running 900# fronts and Terry Rossi had me go with 700's and told me and others 900 is too much and will drive more push. On the Hoosiers they seem to work best at 36 psi hot, for me and others after 37 they seem to get very greasy. Have fun this summer and be safe! Mike

That makes sense Mike regarding the springs and push, however with the 700's I had, even with the higher ride height I think it would be an issue at some tracks/curbing. At autobahn there are a few curbs I like to take that are pretty big.

I have heard others say similar things regarding the hoosier temps as well. It's been a while since I've tried 36psi hot. I just remember lower PSI being very loose (wobbly) under heavy braking and cornering felt like the tires were kinda rolling over. I'll have to experiment again with a little lower PSI's.

I do notice though over 40 the car feels greasy.

I do prefer the car more stiff though than loose.
