I'm reaching out for some help in finding a reliable shop in the Frederick, Maryland area (or surrounding areas since I am certainly willing to drive for the right shop/mechanic) that specializes in differential work. I'm trying to find someone that can successfully install a 3.73 gear set in my '96 RT/10 and was told that I need to find someone with experience specifically handling the dana 44s so that they can get it right the first time without gear whine, etc.

Thanks for any leads or info!

Meant to responde to this thread sooner.

Tony's Corvette shop in Rockville has been highly recommended and is used by quite a few of the members.

Thanks for the advice guys. I decided on shipping it up to Tator's. I've owned my car for 14 years now, and have repeatedly been recommended to have him work on the car, but I was just trying to avoid the extra expense to ship the car & back. Several weeks prior to my first post here, I had tried my hardest to get Tony's Corvette to do it because I knew they were familiar with the gear setup & could do it right, but no matter how hard I tried, they said they wouldn't allow my viper to be there b/c it would make the corvette owners mad. I told Tony's I was willing to wait until their schedule allowed for it, but I was called back later only to be told the owner said that Corvette owners would still get mad about it so they refused me. That was disappointing, but since I do have a lot of other maintenance items needing done from never driving the car, I'm glad that I decided to go ahead and ship it up to Chuck.

Sorry to hear that happended. They had worked on Vipers plenty in the past. It's unfortunate that potential Corvette owner jealousy has cost you the increased expense and time of having it go to Chucks. On a positive note, your car is in great hands with the Wizard.
