Hello all.

I have just purchase a Black Viper from Speedway Chrysler Dodge Jeep, in Lansing, KS and I need help/advice on 2 things...

1. All the paperwork is done, but I think I need to have someone check it for any damage, before I take delivery. Is there anyone close by that could help me out? I would really appreciate it.

2. Transport. I am 550 miles away from my new beast, and I find myself debating whether to "fly and drive" or just have it transported. Not sure if the 550 miles from KS to Dallas, TX is a brutal one or not. Are the State Troopers nice? I would have to bake a couple of speeding tickets into the equation, of course! :headbang:

thanks in advance for any and all help,

I was a member of the Prowler Online Association, but I have "upgraded" cars, and forums.

Thanks for making this forum so informative.

State troopers in Texas are absolutely NOT nice. Don't let anyone tell you differently. They are mostly a bunch of a-holes regardless of your situation. Drive like a grandmother.

I just overnighted signed paperwork back on Friday. They told me the car should be available to pickup up no later than 7 days after I sent back the paperwork...So I am guessing this Friday.

It is a New 2004, but has 396 miles on it. They told me the Dealership owner drove it 2 times, but no customer ever test drove it. Either way, in my mind, it takes less than a mile to "bang-up" a rim, or bumper, etc...

They said they need to get the finance paper "cashed out" from the lender before they release the car, since I am out-of-state.

-thanks

I posted this one in 2 forums...General and the SRt10 one.

Given the short notice, here is my cell 512-507-5854, if anyone can help out.

Here are the links to each post, in case you have been following one/both.

General

SRT 10

Sorry for the confusion...

Only thing I can offer is that you have serious construction delays at the texas/okla border. They are working on the bridge and delays of 1-2 hours is the norm. Plan accordingly. There is also come construction in OKC as well.

I have done the kansas border/dallas drive probably 30 times in my life. I hate it even without the construction. Personally, I would have it transported. If not transporting, seriously consider a night drive. Of course you now have all the truckers and the debris they pickup/throw-off to deal with. There are alternate routes you could consider as well.

I will go up and check the car tomorrow evening after work IF they are open late enough...assuming the car is inside somewhere.

I dont know everything about Vipers, but, I know curb rash when I see it...and where the burnout rubber tends to accumulate.

Jerry? Ride along?

Kurt

P.S. Check your PM's Venumb.

Got it thanks...I sent you the details.

I hope I am in a position one day to help a member out, just like the members who have offered theirs to me. :2tu:

Venumb...........I'm sure you got a great deal on your new SRT-10, but with 300 plus miles on the odometer, I would definitely have it thoroughly checked out. I would also highly recommend having it transported in an enclosed trailer (major piece of mind). Good luck and congrats on your new Viper!!

I just wanted to thank Kurt for making a trip out there to look over the car. I am equally excited about becoming a member of VCA as I am getting my first Viper. The kind of support here on the forum makes owning a Viper that much better!

From Kurt's analysis, I have come up with 2 choices:

1. I feel I need to "rescue" this snake from the dealership it is at. Although the car does not appear to be "abused," it IS sitting inside the showroom floor covered with bird droppings, dirt, brake dust, etc. Just dirty, but no road rash / wheel damage / etc.

2. Since a mysterious blemish was found...See POST
I have opted to fly up there and see what the dealer is willing to do about it. I will more than likely opt for the repair to be done in Dallas, by a recommended Viper repair shop. DFW members please PM me on this one.

Good thing I already ordered a Front End Cover (bra) to protect her on the drive back. I hear there are some casinos in Oklahoma, so I might make a good weekend out of all this...I will try to keep the keys off the poker table, though. Oh ya, I will need to pick up a portable NAV system and fresh batteries for my Radar Detector...Anything else I am missing for my adventure?

Thanks again for everyone's support!

Got Mine

:2tu:
Drove my new Viper back from Kansas to Dallas, TX without any problems, except an almost "running out of gas" experience...I made it to the pump without any "Fred Flinstone" impersonations.

No tickets, just a couple of "sizzled" legs. 102 degrees, black paint, and our wonderful "heated door sill option." I will have to get used to that one. "She" is broken in now, so all I need is her first oil change, then I can really play. :headbang:

Thanks all for the information and help on my new purchase. The more I read all the posts here, I don't see how I am going to keep mine stock!

I plan to meet up with you DFW guys soon.
