New airbox with K and N filters???

I have read in a couple of different places that the Viper airbox does not fit the K and N filters correctly? I'm getting ready to install new filters, but do I need to replace the airbox too?...or does this only apply to Gen I Vipers?

The ACR has the same airbox as you have and it has K&N as OEM. They will fit fine.

There have been several threads about this topic. S&B's are another filter option.

True. S&B filters from Roe Racing requires no modification to a Gen 1 airbox. The flow characteristics are also supposedly better.

I don't know what this is all about. I put K&Ns in my car about 5-6 months after I had the car and they went in very easy and have been in ever since. I'd be more interested in knowing how often you guys clean these filters out.
