LIBERTY BELL MOTORSPORTS PARK

I thought the list might like to hear about the latest attempt to install a real race track here in Eastern Pa. This follows in the wake of the failed Formula Motorsports Park/country club that tanked due to enviromental issues after years of planning and construction. Rousch Creek near Hazelton Pa is due to have their act together next spring, but a new facility is in the beginning stages of planning right outside of Reading Pa.

Lou Mascaro, part of the Mascaro Inc. trash & landfill empire, decided the best use for his 620 idle acres is to build a professional racing sports park. Nearby land owners seemed to be somewhat supportive of this effort, stating that they are happy the land isn't going to be turned into another landfill. They'll accept the track over that any day.

As it appears, this facility will support a number of types of racing. There are 5 tracks that are planned to be layed out, with several off-shooting from the large 2.73 mile main track. EMRA and SCCA have already approached or been approached by Mascaro regarding use and design. As it appears, this track will cater more to road racers than roundy-rounders, although provisions for motorcycles and perhaps karts are likely. The name of the track will be Liberty Bell Motorsports Park and some info is available at
