Timothy Grant Stokey, age 55, a loving husband and father, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005, in his home at Dover.

Born December 7, 1949 at Dover, he was the son of the late Harold E. and Lucille G. (Grant) Stokey. Tim grew up in New Philadelphia and Lakewood, Ohio, and he graduated in 1968 from Lakewood High School. He and his family returned to this area in 1970.

Tim was a quiet and unassuming man, widely known for speaking with integrity, whose passion for helping others lead lives of significance gave him great satisfaction.

Tim was instrumental in the growth of his family’s business, Allied Machine & Engineering Corporation. Founded by his parents in 1941, Tim, together with his older brother Bill, operated the company.

At Allied, Tim lead the engineering group for many years and demonstrated great interest in computer and electronics development. As he told many who followed, he was the first graduate of the Allied Apprenticeship Program.

At the time of his death, he served as executive vice-president and part owner. Tim was a member of Allied’s operating board, and helped carefully plan for the long-term growth and success of the company.

Tim’s death is a loss that will be felt throughout the Allied family, in Dover, and around the globe.

Tim gave much of his time, talents, and resources to this community in very quiet ways.

Only those closest to him knew of his efforts to support scholarship, athletics and the underprivileged in the area.

Tim was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover, and a past member of the Ohio National Guard.

He and his friends supported the Dover Football team hauling their equipment to and from games for the past two seasons.

Many knew Tim as a friend, community leader, or employer; but he was a father and husband first and foremost. Tim cherished the time he spent with his sons, Nathan and Mark. Whether coaching a little league team, riding motorcycles, boating or automobile racing, Tim could be found with his boys, enjoying their time together.

Tim and his wife, the former Karen S. Sewell, celebrated their twenty-eighth anniversary on April 2, of this year.

In addition to his wife and sons, Tim leaves behind two sisters, Janet (Jack) Rhonemus of Woodstock, Georgia, and Betty (Wallace) Buran of Marietta, Georgia; brothers, Ronald E. (Mary Lou) Stokey of Dover, and William H. (Linda) Stokey of New Philadelphia; his mother-in-law, Jennie Sewell of Dover; his brother-in-law, Tim (Debbie) Sewell of Baltic; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave. Dover on Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2005 with the family present from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.

The Rev. Steven Daniels will officiate a funeral celebrating Tim’ life Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover.

Burial will follow at Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, family and friends are invited to a reception in the church fellowship hall given by Tim’s friends and the football moms of the Dover Mothers Club.

So that Tim’s legacy of support for the community perpetuates, the Stokey family requests that memorial contributions be made to any of the following charities:

The 2005 Dover High School Stadium Drive, C/O Dover High School Athletic Department, 520 N. Walnut St., Dover, OH 44622;
