I'm looking to buy the oil before picking my car up. What is the recommended weight for a 96 GTS? I can't remember and my owners manual is in my car. Thought I had a favorite with all the fluid recommendations for a Viper but can't seem to find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Fellas

10w30 is factory fill. A lot of guys are going to 0w40 now. 10w30 is available at Wal-Mart in 5 qt. jugs for $22 each. 0w40 is not available at Wal-Mart or in 5qt jugs. You can expect to pay around $6.99/qt for the 0w40. I know Pep Boys sells the 0w40 here, locally. Use the NEW Mopar Viper oil filter. Part #5037836AA

Interestingly, at our local Wal-Mart 4 days ago, the Mobil 1 0W-40 was the same price in a quart bottle as the Mobil 1 10W-30 and 5W-20...ALL markrd $6.27 per quart.

What's the advantage of 0w40? Many others have mentioned 15w50 is too heavy especially in the valvetrain. They said to stick with the 10w30.

Who is "they?"

And on the 0W40, try searching it here. It's been discussed before.

From the standpoint of "Why didn't they put it in my car from the factory?" they didn't have it in 2001 when my car was made. But I've switched to it now. Valves are a bit quieter. That be good I guess.
