Thinking about starting to change own oil again (retiring in two weeks will have time) and in just laying on floor saw filter and it appears to be in easy spot to work on. Could not see drain oil plug assume its on opposite end of pan from filter but couldn't see it, is it under some kind of cover can anyone give me location. Also does anyone have oil filter number for Mopar and/are cross-reference for something other than Mopar. Thanks

drain plug is on drivers side of pan, at the middle. Filter is the same as prior Vipers, M1-204, I think, but just look it up at the parts store for a 2001

This may help. Plug is at the top of the oil pan left of the pan center (as shown in the picture).

The local auto parts store is telling me that the SRT/10 takes a M1-203 instead of the M1-204 of previous years. The M1-203 is the same diameter but a little longer (more volume?). Anybody know for sure? I made an attempt to find a filter application chart on the Mobil web site, but no luck....

In response to the question raised here concerning the similarity of the Gen II oil filter and that of the SRT-10, Mr. Bob Woodhouse posted on Jan. 13, 2003 "Yes,the filter is identical." Based upon that expert statement, I am using Molil's M1-204 on our Gen I, GenII, and Gen III Vipers. Will be intertested if someone finds a different recommendation...and, if so, please post.

I've already changed my oil twice. Both times used the same size as Gen I/II. I already had them in stock (in my garage that is).
