Tonight while driving my Oil pressure was at 25 psi (1/4 of the way up) at idle, about 60-70 psi while driving (a little over half almost 3/4 75 is 3/4 on the gauge) but once while in neutral I think, the needle dropped to 0 for a second and the red light came on, thats what caught my eye. One more time through the drive the needle dropped to almost 0 , maybe 10 while in neutral again. All other times in neutral the gauge stays at 1/4 25psi. What could be the problem? I checked the dipstick afterwards and it read near full. I bought the car in like January and have not put 3k miles on it, should I change it anyways? I have 10 quarts of 0w 40 mobile 1 fully synthetic sitting in my garage that I was going to use on my porsche. I think the viper takes 11 quarts I can pickup another one, is 0w 40 the way to go? What would cause this light and drop in pressure?

I think it's recommended to have the first oil change around 500-1000, and after that every 3000 miles...

0W40 for the 2006 and 2008. (2005 and older takes something else).

Be careful of this but sounds like a bad sending unit or wiring issue, assuming normal driving.

2005 specifies 0W40 just like 06 and 08.

That year marked the change from 10W-30 in 03 and 04 to 0W-40 from 2005 to current 08 models.

Ok dealer says there is a miniscule oil leak, so small it doesnt leak onto my garage floor, maybe letting pressure out of the lines? They wanted $550 or so to fix it, its right at the point that enters the oil cooler I think, they showed it to me on the rack. I'm going to have my guys fix it. You guys think it could just be an O ring right at the point? Anybody else had these issues that might have some advice? Thx!@!!

WOW, If that leak is at the lines, they are trying to **** you. The lines are only about 35 bucks each, and the fittings are even less!

-Your 05+ car needs 0W-40 [though *ALL* Viper should be running this now], the pressure range sounds fine for a 2005 engine. 03-04 see about 50psi idle, 05-06 see about 25psi.
-The dip in pressure is likely due to a sending unit, or wiring, but what were the conditions? Did this occur after slamming on the brakes or gas, or during a turn? If so, then you may have an oiling pickup issue, which is fairly common for 03-06 cars with stock pans.

Im going to run 15w-50 in my 08 next oil change. If its good enough for the ACR, its good enough for my 2008 SSG coupe.

No harm in doing so, just dont drive the car in cold weather, and dont beat the crap out of the car until it is warmed up.

Thanks Dan. It occurred at a stop light twice in one day, after just casual city driving. One time the red light came on at 0psi it was only there for a split second, then it went back up to 25psi. Then it almost happened again it dropped to like 5psi before it went back up to 25psi. Strangely it hasn't happened again since I have drove it. I hope it doesnt! But I think we're going to replace the fitting right there at the oil cooler, ourselves. Anybody know a part number or have advise?
