Problems with second gear...................

When I first purchased my '03 in September, I noticed that I encountered some mild resistance in shifting from first to second which I had not observed in my '94. As time has passed, and the ambient temperatures have dropped, there is now a whine as soon as the shift lever goes from neutral to second and continues until I reach neutral again in shifting to third.

Once the tranny reaches operating temperature, the whine stops.

My basic 3/36 warranty will expire in 3 months and I'd like to get this resolved before the 7/70 powertrain warranty kicks in ($100 deductible).

Questions: Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what's the fix?

I also notice some resistance when shifting from 1st to 2nd but no noise is present. This only happens when the car is cold and goes away after a few minutes. I have had it checked out but of course they say it is normal. Please let me know if your tech finds anything.
