I am puzzled! In August 2002 I ordered all outstanding recalls to be done to my -96 GTS, serial # 570, at our Chrysler dealer here in Stockholm. Yesterday, 5 months later, they call and say they have received all things "needed" and are ready to do the job. But then they go on by saying that my car is not included in the 999 recall, (maybe it was 998 he said, I am not 100% sure). It really suprised me as I was under the impression that my car should be included in both recalls, and not only one of them!

Can anybody help me, am I right or is the dealer right?

998 recall is for vipers 1996-99 March 1st, steering and differential frame repair.

999 recall (I think) is for cars after March 1st 1999

We've got the 998 recall over here which I can send you in .pdf format, about 80 pages long

Rare1,
I posted this last week; and according to the NHTSB, here in the USA, BOTH 998, and 999, are required for you year. Now, where you are, it might be different. I would want them both done, however.

According to the NHTSA, 1998, needs the rear differential recall
Go here: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/
and click on RECALS (upper left corner), and follow instructions to input your car details (i.e. Automobile, 1998, Dodge, Viper, select recall).
According to the NHTSA, ALL through (including 1999) need the rear suspension recall. 2000 + do not.

Neil:
Please send me the PDF via email. Thanks.

For Germany: I have heard NOTHING about the recalls 998 and 999 from DC officially so far!

Dan Cragin is now open under the name of DC Performance. I have the phone no at work if you need it, I assume this is who you meant.

You get one or the other recall number.

998 is front and back repairs.

999 is just the front.

So in short, 998 includes the full 999 repairs.
