looks like the 1/4 mile was very close with the SRT10 trapping a lil higher and being a little faster on the road course

Looks like the C6Z06 dominated at the strip but again the Viper was a lil quicker around they're course

Man the C6Z06 just dusted the viper at the strip this time..But look at those track times. Pretty impressive that a car that was significantly slower at the strip was within 2 tenths of the Z06..Wonder wich one handles better?

Finally the c6Z06 beats the SRT10 by 1.2 seconds around a road course...So out of the reviews I could find..Viper3...Vette2...So please just remember that the next time you wanna say how the "old" SRT10's cant handle...Well theve proven the be faster than your C6Z06 on more than one ocassion( despite having 3-4 mph lower trapp speeds

And I assume these times are presented with the Viper smoking tires through first and second at the strip. The Viper does take some getting use too compared to the Z06, get in, drive and post good times. I am sure if testers were given a month with both cars, the Viper would come out on top.

I always like to point out that the rag top Viper far outperforms the rag top Vette. Hard to cruise into a car show with the top down in a Z06.

I as well agree. The first night out with my Viper I ran 12.4's-12.7's at 114-117 mph..

After about 10-15 runs and learning the shifter I took it to an 11.9 at 122..

That one were the Viper trapped 117 and the Z06 123 is just ludicrous. But they say the viper hit 0-60 in 4.9 seconds on that run of 12.6 at 117 mph so it's obvous that the viper spun through 1st and second...However. undrr normal conditions the C6Z06 IS 3 mph faster than the SRT10 through the 1/4 mile...

But this isnt about the 1/4 mile. I was just for some C6Z06 guys talkin trash who said that only a GT2 could give a c6z06 a run for it's money on a road course..Ha ha ha ha...Looks like the gen3 Vipers hold they're own pretty well

You can't convince any of them about the reality of the numbers. You will hear about Rangers 10 sec run...and some guy who ran this or that on a road course. If those 2 guys did it...all of their cars can do it. The Gen 3 Viper outperforms the C6Z on a road course more often than not, despite more weight and less RWHP.

My recollection of the various buff magazine comparisons of the 2003-2006 Viper versus the C6 Z06 was that actually the Viper was praised as being more predictable and easier to drive than the Z06 around a road course. The Z06 (at least before certain suspension tweaks were made either in 07 or 08) was criticized for being more unpredictable at the limit, including a tendency to snap oversteer at the limit of adhesion. I think where the Z06 excelled was in straight line speed.

My thoughts EXACTLY!!!

Dodge gives you the choice with the Viper.

While I don't see why one would want a coupe for a sports car - but Dodge lets you have one if you want.

In the interest of full disclosure, I drive 4 convertibles ('04 Viper, '69 Corvette, '61 Corvette, '68 Impala) plus a few steel winter hard roof rigs when there is SALT on the roads.

If an convertible Corvette existed with the Z06 engine and were it were as rigid as Viper, it would DEFINITELY be HEAVIER than a convertible Viper....

In regards to handling, both Car & Driver articles comparing the 2006 SRTC vs Z06 and the 2008 SRTC vs Z06 rate the handling of the viper as superior to the Z06.
