Pardon the semi-repeat, but this is a new development worth saying in a separate post!

:2tu: SRT owners owe NY/CT VCA member Steve Katz the clever idea of the year award! :2tu:

We've been fortunate enough to have the Aston Martin Owners Club invite the NY/CT VCA to a day at Lime Rock, but SRTs had the issue of meeting the "broomstick" rule. The only way around the rule and get SRTs on the track was to be placed in the driver's education group. In the driver's education group, open cars without a tall enough roll bar would have to follow an instructor and be limited to speeds that all driver's education cars (including the Aston Martins) can keep up with. :(

Our Steve Katz offered 1) to be a lead driver of an education group and 2) to have 10 Vipers for a Viper-only education group. That means SRTs (and we would assume RT/10s) can take laps at Lime Rock behind Steve and his ACR at a reasonable Viper pace instead of the one-speed-fits-all Aston Martin instructional group!

So, SRT owners, show up! For a really reasonable price you can get out on the track - guaranteed no hassle - and run laps quick enough to enjoy, learn, and explore the car's capabilities. But we need enough cars to ensure a Viper group! The sign-up information is in a post also on this forum, or click here. The deadline is May 9.

What a perfect opportunity for SRTs owners: you have a menu consisting of classroom chalkboard talk, laps with an instructor showing you where you should be on each part of the track, and if you're feeling like you "get it," running laps with an ACR!! Do one, two or all three, but you won't get this combination very often (maybe only every year when the NY/CT VCA sees how successful this event is!)

Check out the sign-up post; of course all Vipers are invited and any Viper can attend the driver's education class or the track time. For any questions contact Steve at 845 638 0505 [email protected] or me at 845 235 6392 [email protected]

PS: The "broomstick" rule means a straight line from the windshield frame in front of the driver to the roll bar, roll hoop, sport bar, etc, behind the driver cannot touch the driver's helmet.
