SVSi short throw shifter. Anyone remove the stops? Results?

The rear shifter stop hits the trans tunnel on a solid 1-2 shift and it sounds as if the trans is about to come through the floor. SVSi indicated that it is OK to eliminate the stops. Has anyone done this? What was the result? Does the OEM shifter have stops?
