I asked a guy about how his car arrived at 600 HP (selling on ebay). This was his response:

No, a stock 1999 Viper is about 425. Add on the KNN Filter (70 hp), Viper performance chip and custom Dodge Viper exhaust system (60-70 hp) it adds to about 600. The car is a monster off the line. I am not into speed but I do like acceleration. I have not lost off the line to any car as of yet.

That's the reason I'm holding off on headers. I do not want to go from 600hp to only about 470hp, assuming he's talking rwhp.

according to that Corky, "a" k&n filter (singular) is worth 70hp, so if he would have bought 2 would it have given him 140hp? What a dick head

Ive been reading outrageous claims of power gain by changing filters for years, but I have to say. This one takes the cake.. 70HP from a K&N filter? Take a "0" off that figure, and it would still be a far reach.. "They painted it, house of colors orange, right off the assembly line". Right, Im certain there is no accident history there, to promote the color change

I new I should have bought the K&N instead of the high flow filters and smooth tubes. Always get the information to late. Just this last weekend someone was explaining to me how I wiped out my viper at the track, then I explained to him how the story is getting just a little overblown when he saw the car with no damage. Going sideways and bringing it under control is a lot different then what the story started getting blown up to.
