My 97 GTS is about to turn 50,000 miles. I got wondering about when the original serpentine belt should be replaced. Looked in the owners manual for a recommendation, but found nothing. Any suggestions?

Jim, replace it with the newer style. less friction and quieter.

Agreed. I just changed mine before the Ironman Brawl in west Texas. You can only buy them thru Dodge or Parts Rack - they are around $50

Did mine at 30k miles, it was starting to crack a little and very glazed, so it needed doing! I would change every 30k miles routinely, wouldn't risk making the belt do more. A quick a easy job to do too.

Changed my minivan belt at 87K just because, and it had no cracks, glazing, etc. Same for coolant hoses. Both could have gone another 87k. I guess it depends on heat and stress levels.
