I've seen some with 1000 to the wheels with the stock T56? Anyone pushing any higher and it still holding up?

I don't plan on doing any mile or 1/2 mile events, just some trips to the track and highway pulls....

I guess you could break it with stock motor....eventually. All depends on how you drive it.
Drag radials/slicks, etc can't be good on it. Something in the driveline is going to give.

I thought i heard somewhere that the tranny would handle up to 750 HP SAFELY.

According to Wikipedia it varies between different applications, even between different years of Vipers: lowest torque capacity 330 lb-ft ('92 Viper), 450 lb-ft ('96-'02) and 550 lb-ft ('93-'95 and some Gen III).

I broke a stock T-56 with my previous Roe setup (~700rwhp, ~800rwtq), however this was after many runs with slicks. Then started to tear apart a built T-56 with my TT setup just doing highway pulls etc. Not sure how useful this is for you, but just my experience.

I've now switched to a Donato built TR6060.

I busted my stock T56 with my ROE similar to Simms @ about 45K miles...and am now running a 'Donato recommended' RAM SRT-10 T56 that has the stout 9310 gear sets.

Thanks for the input everyone, seems like the breaking is not really a set number. Seems like everyone's replacement ends up being the 6060. Ellow's is the first I've heard of using the Rams T-56 - is that a direct bolt in?

Donato can upgrade your viper T56 to 9310 gears. I believe the guts come from the truck trans.

Definitely depends on how you use it. Fifth is weak......if you are accelerating when you shift to fifth you stand a greater chance of grenading a T-56 than in the lower gears. At the dragstrip you're not likely to see fifth, on the street (depending on how you race) you might. On a roadcourse like VIR or RA you'll definitely need 5th.
