Wow Skip
A whole 4 events in 2002, then 7 months till the finals
Seems like there should be be a minimum of 5 events to qualify for Tx. Ever think about moving to the west coast.
By the way 2 of the west coast events are Northern Cal and 2 Southern Cal.
By the way I understand there is a new track at California Speedway, Ontario Ca

I would consider the Mid-America Raceway in Nebraska a West coast event. That would be 5 events in the West! There are other tracks outside of the state of California!!

Since when was Nebraska in the "west"? For Viper Days classifications, the "west coast" ends at Arizona! Now Woodhouse, Pemberton, Foster and Downs are "honorary west coasters" because they've got game, but let's not confuse ourselves about the rest of the state!

Fontana is definitely open, but only about 1.5 miles long so we'll classify that one as an honorary "Arizona track". What happened to Pahrump? And Buttonwillow backwards certainly should be mixed in.

BTW, the finals at TWS is niiiiiiiiiiice!

NEW TRACK, NEW TRACK, NEW TRACK !!!!!!!
The Mid-America Motorplex will be completed next Spring , so the Viper Days event there, will be one of the first activities for a new racing facility. The track is actually in Iowa, just across the river from Nebraska, and Omaha is only 15-20 from the course.
The track is designed by the same professional that created Gingerman , near South Haven , Michigan. We are working to have the Race Headquarters at one of the Casino Hotels in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and ***** ( Bob Woodhouse ) has some exciting plans for the banquet - can't tell as I am sworn to secrecy. Mid - America Motorplex is supposed to have a 160mph front straight and be similar in length to Mid Ohio. Downtown Omaha, has great hotels also, and the Old Market ( boutiques, restaurants, bars, etc. ) is a great drawing place for fun activities - just across the river from the Casinos. The website listed is incorrect, so to check things out, go to:
www.midamericamotorplex.com

We may be in the East, we may be in the West, but as long as ***** buys the drinks it will all work out for the BEST !!!

Gary,

VD did an event at Pocono last year as a substitute for a canceled venue. I believe they strive to schedule events at World Class purpose built Road Courses vs. infield venues such as Pocono.

Bottom line is that they put on terrific events on terrific courses.

Pocono is not a good track for Viper Days, in our opinion. We have been there twice. Michelin prefers that we do not go to ANY tracks that incorporates an oval. Enough said.
Rausch Creek - Having trouble getting completed and will not guarantee dates. That is why we added Beaverun instead. Watkins Glen is great but cannot get a weekend!! Attendance is just not there for midweek. But we keep trying.

I hate to be the one to complain BUT....

I thought that Skip promised us that we wouldn't have to spend Super Bowl Sunday at Willow Springs again.

Looks like it will be four straight years that I only get to listen to the game while travelling north on I-5, back to the land of orange cones...

Getting track dates is TOUGH - especially at a track like Watkins Glen - weekends are booked YEARS in advance and most clubs have had the same dates for DECADES! The only reason we got in this year was because of a cancellation. Same thing for Road Atlanta, but Sebring is on the calendar for 2002 - we are getting more name recognition and we are being WELCOMED at tracks thanks to Skip's hard work and the great folks at Viper Days - we have heard more positive comments from the track about VCA members / Viper Days participants - they LIKE having us there.

Come out and play at Watkins Glen this year!

What's the problem? Choose between sitting in front of a tv for 6 hours watching a bunch of jerks and commercials.
OR
Slamming on the brakes at 150mph and throwing a Viper into a turn all day long.

Sorry to be so negative. I was a football fanatic and ten year season ticket holder until they added more commercials, went on strike, raised my taxes, started acting like jerks, made the game more boring.
