Is there any certain Dodge rules dictating what dealerships must have a Viper tech on staff (# of Vipers sold in a year, etc) or does it just come down to if the dealership wants to spend the $$ to send a tech to Viper school?

As I understand it if they want to sell Vipers they have to have trained Viper Techs AND the proper tools and equipment. I believe there are also new rules regarding the sale of SRT vehicles also. Lots of dealers are not SRT dealers.

Not all Dodge dealers can sell / service Vipers. Both go hand and hand. They have to commit to the training, special tools and lifts.

It is my observation that there are CURRENTLY MANY,MANY Dodge dealers selling Vipers with NO Viper Tech at their dealership. Times have changed from the early days.

Another point is, the dealership may have sold one or two and they may have a tech, but he may only work on one a year. I have seen this.
I always go with the specialists, like DC or WCV, it's their bread and butter.

It is unfortunate as it does only one thing, leads to unhappy customers when service is needed.

On the other hand, my car is currently in a little town in MI being worked on, and Ed (the painter) was able to carry it to a small Dealer in Ludington, MI... a dealer that has never even sold a Viper but they had a Viper tech. The tech replaced my fuel pump and my Viper ran for the first time after the engine build today! Yep, fuel pump is not really that big a deal, but it was still nice to know he was a certified Viper tech.

I was just happy he had any traingin period in the Dunes of Michigan.

You are fortunate to have such great people so close. In Arkanasas.... a trip to Dallas is required to visit any Viper techs that see a Viper more than once a year!

Jay,

Stop on the way to Dallas at the Greenville Chrysler @ I30/Hwy69...there is a good Viper Tech and "wrench-head" there!
