It’s official! With the announcement of the next Viper Owners Invitational to be held in Detroit, Aug. 27–30, 2008, that brings the number of these major Viper blowouts to a perfect 10, or to put it another way, one max party to go with every cylinder in our favorite engine. VOI.10 (That really has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?) is coming home to the Motor City.

VOI.10 Highlights
Whether you caravan, trailer your Viper or just hop on a plane, once you get to Detroit, there is a whirlwind of activities scheduled for the event. Attendees and their guests will stay at Detroit’s two newest luxury establishments—the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel and the Motor City Casino and Hotel. Completed within the last year, both of these hotels offer first-class accommodations and easy access to Detroit’s casinos as well as other citywide attractions.

One of the most anticipated activities of VOI.10 will be the tour of the Viper owner’s Promised Land—the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant where Vipers have been built since 1996. After arriving on Wednesday, VOI.10 attendees will get guided tours of the facility and see up close how each Viper is carefully assembled by some of the most skilled craftspeople in the auto industry. Ask anyone who has already taken this tour—it’s an experience you’ll never forget. Thursday and Friday will also include driving events that will allow Viper owners to show off their skills behind the wheel.

In addition, the timing of this event includes the Detroit Grand Prix, scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. Those who come to VOI.10 will be able to attend the event and watch competitors from all over the world take on the challenging Belle Isle race course. Viper owners who attended the Detroit Grand Prix in 2007 said it was one of the best times they’ve ever had.

Back at the hotels, both Dodge and the VCA have planned spectacular banquets with an incredible array of food and beverage along with some top-notch entertainment. These social events are a great way for you to renew friendships and relive the glory of the day’s events.

Plans are also well underway for an exciting Viperabilia exhibit and those who have attended in the past know that this is always one of the most popular attractions at a Viper Owners Invitational. Suppliers and vendors will be on hand with many unique and fascinating items that a discriminating Viper owner will just have to have.

Make Plans Now to Attend
As we said, all roads lead to Detroit. We will be sending more information by the beginning of March on how to register, so stay tuned. It’s time for your Viper to come home and we hope to see you and all of your Viper friends in Detroit this August.

What cracks me up, is the amount of threads started since the e mail broke. I counted several and now there are three alone in the "most recent threads" section. People are excited.

In my OPINION it took alot of close doors meeting to make this happen this would not be the time nor place as some are trying to make a statement of why the viper should live on.

Now with that I think EVERYONE can wear a T'SHIRT to show their SUPPORT for CHUCK so maybe someone can get shirts made. Its a statement and at the same time done with class...It also show who really support Chuck and TATOR DODGE actions speak louder than words....Can you see over 500 people with RED TATOR SHIRTS now thats a statement...JUST MY OPINION everyone do as you please, Adrian

As many of you know, there has been a great deal of "talk" about the end of the Viper with the recent transfer of Chrysler ownership, the "greening" of the world and downturn of our economy. For those reasons and others, this particular VOI will be viewed as a statement by the Viper Nation. If you've never been to a VOI before, THIS is the one you will not want to miss! If you have been to others before, THIS will be far better! If the costs are giving you second and third thoughts, save a few dollars by leaving your Viper at home and use one of the 2008's that will be provided at the track events!

IF OUR VIPER IS GOING TO SURVIVE, PLEASE HELP US MAKE A STATEMENT AND JOIN US!

You already know we have a tremendous line up of nonstop action events for our membership. We have a once-in-a-lifetime, full-access pass to the historic Chrysler Proving Grounds for our autocross and driving events. We have fantastic cruise lined up aboard the Detroit Princess riverboat. There will be tours at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant, the Saleen Plant and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. We’ll get a sneak peak at the the Belle Isle course the Friday night before the big race. And, of course, there will be the usual highlights from past VOIs including fabulous accommodations, informative tech sessions, sumptuous banquets and an extensive Viperabilia display. And, don’t forget—for the first time ever, we’ll be drawing the winning ticket for the VCA raffle at a Viper Owners Invitational. On Friday, Aug. 30, someone will win a brand new Dodge Viper right there in front of the Viper Nation. So get your tickets, come to Detroit and be prepared for one of the most exciting nights of your life.

We only have about 2 weeks left to register and we don't want to shut out anyone. If there is anything we can do to try to help you please advise ASAP.

I didn't know cars would be provided for track events. That's great because my viper doesn't have a roll bar or hard top. Are helmets provided also or do we have to provide our own? And insurance? :dunno:

There will be some factory SRT's at the track events for members. I'll have to see if they will also provide helmets, but I'd bring your own if at all possible. The factory cars are insured. I'd check with your personal insurer to see what coverage you may need or have.

Latest News:

Clothing Restrictions
All attendees that go the Chelsea Proving Grounds and the Milan Dragway must wear long pants. Also, open-toed shoes (includes Crocs or sandals of any type) and tank tops are prohibited at Chelsea, Milan and the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant (shorts are permitted at CAAP). These clothing requirements will be strictly enforced, so please be sure that your members plan accordingly. Also, the folks at the Milan Dragway would prefer that long sleeve shirts be worn while driving on the strip. Reminder: Your Chelsea/Milan driving day will either be on Thursday or Friday depending on whether you are in Group A or Group B. Please check the schedule in your onsite package when you arrive.

Your Driving Day and New News on the Panoramic Photo
Since the Chelsea Proving Grounds can accommodate smaller groups than previous VOI venues have been able to, on your scheduled driving day at Chelsea and Milan, you will be split into two even groups. Half the group will start at Chelsea and the other half at Milan and then after lunch the two groups switch. As we normally do, we tried to keep the Clubs together as much as possible. Each group will get their photo taken at Chelsea so instead of having 2 event photos we will have 4! Check your onsite package for your driving day schedule.

Helmets
Helmets will be required at Chelsea and Milan, so make certain that everyone who has a helmet brings it along. We will have a limited supply of helmets available for those members who do not own one.

Tops Up!
For convertible owners who will running on the drag strip at Milan, you must have your tops up or hard tops in place. No cars will be permitted to run on the strip with tops down. This requirement applies to the Milan Dragway only. Milan is an IHRA sanctioned facility.

Tour Days
As we mentioned to you several weeks ago, since Friday is a corporate holiday some of the clubs will tour the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant on Wednesday, including:

Motor City
Illinois
Colorado/Utah/Wyoming
Indiana/Kentucky
Western Canada
Switzerland
Ohio
Quebec
Virginia/Maryland
Gateway
Georgia
Ontario
Northern California (half the group)
West Virginia/Pennsylvania (half the group)
Arizona (half the group)

On Thursday, the clubs listed above will visit Chelsea. On Friday, the group will finish their tours with the Saleen Plant and Walter P. Chrysler Museum. All other clubs will tour CAAP, Saleen and the Chrysler Museum on Thursday and visit Chelsea and Milan on Friday.

Note: The management at CAAP has recently requested that parents bring a birth certificate for all children between the ages of 12 and 16 who will be touring the plant. And remember, no children under the age of 12 are allowed in the plant.

No Viper?
For those attendees who are not bringing their Viper, there will be a limited number of Vipers that SRT will supply at the driving venues (Chelsea and Milan). Please keep in mind there are quite a few attendees who are not bringing their cars, so driving time will be limited to give as many people as possible a chance to drive. Shuttles will also be available to all activities to accommodate non-driving guests.

See You in the “D”
That about wraps it up. If you have any questions, please call us at 866-864-2003. If not, we’ll see you in the “D” in just a few short days for the 10th Viper Owners Invitational!
