My car came with DANA 3.73's, what do those top out at?

my gears feel really, short, im thinking of going down to a 3.55. I never plan on adding any real highpower mods (supercharger or nitrous), my car just has a mopar exhaust.

Anyone think i should just keep the 3.73's? i do a lot of street driving, rarely any high speed driving, but regardless when i do go on the highway or gun it my gears feel stupid short.

Explaining Viper things to you
What do you mean by "top out at?" Like top speed at redline? Use an on-line gear-speed-tire size calculator to solve that riddle.

And you are well above what I've heard many say is the perfect Viper rear end ratio of 3.33:1.

You must have some hellacious arms from all the shifting! ;)

Sounds like you should just get a stock rear and be done with it. It's an easy swap then you could sell the 3.73 and only be out the labor.

With a 3.73 you can pull from a stop in 2nd without a problem plus in town you are at 2000 or above in 3-4 which makes the Viper really fun. If you want to lug it around then yea the 3.07 is pretty boring but will work.

Top end in 5th with the 3.73 is 185ish on a Gen3.

I think i read once that you have 3.73s also?

And if it tops out at 185 then i'll be pretty happy with that, someone told me ocne the 3.73s kill your top end down to like 145 or 150.

Yes I do and I also have the Mopar PCM so I can run it to about 193 in 5th and still pull in 6th but have not had that chance...Yet. I would not trade the constant pressing force in the back the 3.73 give for anything! But that's me of course. :lmao:

The bottom line I am reading is:

Suuuuuuuuure you can be a big girl and have 3.07s, but why not be a real man with 3.73s?

This was one of the first things I did when I got my car and it's a blast to drive. If I ever go forced induction, I understand they'll have to go if I want traction. You might not be gaining any power, but it sure feels like it.

Best thing I ever did to the car. Done know about top end though. It did make a big differance on the freeway when I went to the 3.73 though. Will make a differance.
