the owners manual that came with my year 2001 viper gts-acr states that the top speed of my viper is 180 mph. thats all i could get out of my car bone stock with no mods. i verified that my speedometer was accurate with my gps. exhaust mods got me another 2 mph. so to date i am at 182 mph. the mods that i will be doing in february should get me at least 190 mph maybe even as much as 200 mph. the road i run on resides at 1300 feet above sea level and is perefectly flat. the air temps were in the 60's. no winds in any direction either. anybody who gets 185+ mph out of a bone stock viper either has a tail wind or a down hill run.

I got 168 mph in a stock 95 RT/10 and 173 mph with slight mods (exhaust, intake, calibration)

Touched 195 in the SRT and it was pulling HARD. Not enough **** to keep it going though.

If the Dr. Roof Viper stayed in the gas and kept shifting what would that top out at?

Hope these are based on radar or trap speeds - no stock speedometer is accurate at those speeds (or I could tell you about topping 190 on the motorcycle - I figure its more likely around 165).

My experience so far is that the speedometer is pretty accurate at higher speeds. Comparisons to GPS are just about right on. With one exception. For Gen I cars that switched to Pilot tires the speedo will read high as the Pilots have a smaller overall diameter than the original XGTZ.

Tom what the hell happened to the 86ZT anyway you got ripped and they still had the car last year!

They f'd up that motor pretty bad. Trying to get some money out of them but we all know how that goes........

I was in PC's supercharged car at 200+ and it was still pulling HARD. This was the setup that did the 194mph (i think it was 194) in the mile.

I'm sorry but to those who say that their stock viper did 180+ and was still pulling hard, well its pretty much BS. I got a stock 97 GTS maxed out at about 185, rock solid, but it wasnt going anywhere no more. It was at 185 for about a mile until I gave up. I do feel that gears would do wounders for top speed though. The stock 3.08's are just hurting the viper in that aspect. Anybody with gears played around in high speeds?

With my mods I hit 180mph fairly easy and the way it was still pulling I think I might see 200 in the near future. Just have to find a safe place to play.

I don't have the **** or the place to go that fast where we are. I have only done 155, but today I got my car out after DC Motorsports tuned my Water/Methane on my Sean Roe, and did some 0-60 and 0-100 runs. I put the cell phone in my lap, and yelled the start and 60 and 100 marks. I did this about 4 times, and then went to work to listen to the messages on the recorder. I figure this is the safest way without trying to run a stopwatch, and steer and not spin out all at the same time. I get 0-60 at 3.5 and 0-100 at 7.8. This was my best run, because most of the time in these temps, my tires were breaking loose.
