I have wondered this myself. I have a feeling that the SRT will generate about 520 - 525 HP at the crank. We shall see.

I was hoping that the final quoted bhp number for the SRT would be higher than the "500" that was initially announced, but based on the info that came with the pricing announcement, it looks like that is not to be.

I'm going to guess the SRTs will dyno in the 445-450 rwhp range (based on the assumption of 510-515 fwhp and 13% driveline loss). I hope I'm wrong since my '97 GTS dyno'd at 456 rwhp with just headers and exhaust.

We shall see!

I bet that MOST SRT's will be around 460RWHP, just like most GTS's are around 410RWHP. I think the strong ones might be closer to 475RWHP.

What I had heard was that the SRT was easily making 520HP and then some, but at some point you need to look at the numbers, the bell curve, and the marketing, and pick a number... and that number was 500hp.

Does a GTS make 450HP? Nope. Does an SRT make 500HP? Nope.

EDIT:

I also heard from multiple sources that the SRT is VERY restricted exhaust-wise... moreso than the GTS. With headers and exhaust, this car should pick up a TON of power.

Wouldn't it be nice if a cat-back SRT was making 500RWHP and 550RWTQ??? Yumm!

I hope that it will make a minimum of 450RWHP but the TQ are very low compared to GTS. My car has 480RWTQ and SRT will have 500 at the motor.

One piece of good news -- they went back to the more radical cam with the SRT, which means as Brunton points out that a set of headers and a derestricted exhaust should free up a bunch of ponies.

My fearless prediction: 455 RWHP stock.

I say 430-440 at R&D Dyno, 460 at most other dyno shops. And about 500lb's at the wheels, due to the 525 tq rating.

Russ, I'm confused by this comment. My '97 GTS dyno'd at 425 rwhp at R&D when it was bone stock. My '01 GTS dyno'd at 425 rwhp at R&D with catback, K&N and smooth tubes (415 rwhp with catback only). My '03 Cobra dyno'd at 363 rwhp just last week at R&D dyno (bone stock). (All numbers are SAE.) These numbers are as good as or better than numbers I see elsewhere for the same cars.

Why do you think R&D produces low dyno results? If it's true they produce low results by 20-30 rwhp, then my '03 Cobra is really putting down 380-390 hp to the wheels bone stock, and I don't believe that.
