whinig noise - 03 SRT

I just returned from a trip in the Viper. When we stopped at a red light (righta fter a 200 mile trip on the highway) I heard a higher pitced whinig noise that seemed to be coming from the rear of the car. Almost sounds like it is in the area of the battery but could be anywhere in the rear of the car. Had the car sit in the driveway for about two hours and started it up - the noise is still there.
Does anyone have any ideas what this might be??

Sounds to me like the fuel pump.

when you turn the key to the "on" position you hear a bit of a whine - is that the fuel pump?? If so, the sound I am having is not quite the same - not as loud...

The whine when you first turn the key is the fuel pump. Don't know what your secondary whining sound is. Good luck.
