I don't see a problem with it. Let them try to sell it for as much as they can get. Didn't they try to do the same with the 92s?

How do you know a dealer has it for sell? Every new one I have seen pics of has been on the dealers lot....that doesn't mean the dealer owns it. As in any e-bay auction if you don't want to buy it now then bid on it. The buy it now price doesn't mean that is the reserve. The black one on e-bay has a buy it now of 125k and it has already been proven that the reserve is less than 99k, After taxes he probably has 89k of his $$$ in it. I mess with real estate some and if I put my $89k in a house I expect more than 10k profit even if I resale it the next week. How much of a profit would you expect when you tie up 90 grand ?

Come to California. The dealers here make an attempt to sell every Viper for $20K over sticker.

Heh, we will do it too!! Woodhouse would be happy to sell a new 2004 , and ...............................throw in a low mileage
94-96 RT-10 for the same price,ha!! Okay, we will toss in an extended warranty too. Heck , we will even bring back the old Woodhouse Meal Plan, which in this case would probably entail a Steak Dinner and a bottle of Cabernet!

Yep, in fact I had a buddy who bought a new Viper when they first came out.... he paid WELL over sticker... something like 10-15K over sticker.

He kept telling me..."I'll be able to sell this car in 5 years for 20K more than I am paying for it"..... I guess that didn't work out too well.

Hey Bill... .will you throw in the undercoating too?

BLEBYU - I'll trade you my 99 GTS straight up. It has AC and radio. Connolly interior, too. REAL pistons, not those girly-man Fisher-Price HE's ;-)

Didn't Kevin Costner pay $200,000 for a 92? I think there were a few others that paid that much as well.

I wished Dodge would have just told everyone that if first time buyers get a certificate and they dont want the car, then make it available to at least Viper owners (VCA members)even if they didn't but their Viper new. Doesn't owning a Viper have ANY meaning even if were are not the first owner. So I guess in order to be special to Dodge you have to be the first owner of a Viper to qualify for a certificate and they you have to go out and chase a 2003 and pay way over sticker. So where is it we have a chance to purchase the 03 for a fair price.

I am the dealer in question. I do not own the car. A Viper club member owns the car, and he has it on ebay. He just used my pics of the cars. He also has a dealers license, and there for the buyer can buy the car, and the title be in there name as the first owner. ALL my cars where sold before I ordered them, for much less than list price. How do you think I feel? Sticker is 83795 so if I had got sticker,(which I didn't) and he gets 125,000 I left 41,200 on the table, times five cars equals 206,025

Wayne, from what I have heard the owners with a certificate all bought their cars at around dealer invoice, hell the dealers cut each others throat so bad they where practically giving the cars away, so in that respect the program worked perfectly. The owners where the only ones allowed to buy SRTs, and the ones that bought, all got a race horse deal, and now have a chance to make some coin. It sound like sour grapes to me.

George... Thanks Man! that's the best offer today!

I've posted it before. "The Coupon program put 100% of the power in the buyers hands.... dealers had no choice. If they wanted to sell a 2003, they had to meet the price of the dealer(s) offering the lowest price, dealer(s) that had sold maybe one Viper in the last ten years (except for those that did the same thing for the '96 GTS's). In this case, the program worked just like the '96 GTS did, except that (in my opinion) there were many more buyers that bought simply to resell this time around. Program would have been more fair to the dealers if they had factored in the dealers Viper allotment into things. As it was, the top dealers like Woodhouse, Fitzgerald, Buhler, Latham... all who had earned substantial Viper allotments by selling lots of Vipers.... lost those allotments, and therefor were on equal footing (liberal usage of the word "equal") with Dodge Dealers that sold hardly any Vipers. Woodhouse took the lead on pricing, at MSRP, before the coupon program was announced. Since they had the biggest allotment, dealer pricing at teh other dealers would not have been inthe "gouging" catagory like in '92 (plus MANY more cars than '92). As it ended up, the newest, hottest Dodge ever.... was forced to be sold at heavily discounted prices. Not a marketing statement you want to make on anew car.

Don't worry, we'll likely never see another program like this again. If we dom it will be a lease program like Ferrari uses to avoid gouging by dealers and buyers!

The thing that has made me laugh the most, is the fellows that bad mouthed the cars looks about six months ago, you know who you are

, nearly all have SRT-10's on order. Guess since they hate the way they look, theirs will be for sale soon too.

That's my 2 cents worth.

Supply and demand will set the typical price. If a dealer or owner wants to sell their car for MSRP +/- that is their option.

Have you looked at a new Mercedes AMG lately, in Northern CA? The local economy is very slow and the MSRP adder is alive and well. Want one at MSRP get in line with an order and in a year or two you may get a car.

Why complain, all original owners had the opportunity to purchase a SRT10.

If you did not order a SRT10 and want one now it will likely cost a little more to be first on your block. The price for exclusivity and typical for most items. What is the cost of a playoff game?

I am amazed at the tears and cries of unfair play.

The Cert. program has worked very well and is a great gift to the Viper Nation from Dodge. Many Dealers did not have VCA programs for pricing and service, but now have started (orders for SRT10's) to work with local VCA club's. These dealers now have an opportunity to establish a relationship with cert buyers.

Relationship Marketing, a Dodge program known as the VCA, is working. How many cars are sold out for the first years production (1000 or more cars)? The PR (first year of production is sold to the Viper Nation) in the car magazines is worth $$$$.

Jay lease a GEN IV? Do you really think the SRT10 is similar to the F40, F50, etc.? These(F cars)cars are one run and low volume that make them very collectable. Those who thought the 92RT10's were going to be like AC Cobra's lost their you know what.

There will always be situations(economic, opportunity, etc) that make any program seem unfair and what is fair about life?

Those who are not taking delivery, of their SRT10's, are giving others an opportunity to buy the Best Performance rag top in the world.

I guess if it was up to some people, we'd all be able to rent running Vipers and be muckety-mucks in the VCA.

I really appreciate the certificate program. It was a GREAT IDEA, and worked exactly as expected!

Even though I was not eligable (bought used), it makes me feel good about buying a DC product knowing how well they treat their owners.

p.s., could someone sell me an SRT for 80 grand now? Seriously? Pretty please? (not holding my breath)

The cert program worked exactly as it was supposed to. Sure...there are a few people who took advantage of the situation and will flip their cars for $$$, but not many. Of the 2000 cars sold for the first year, I'll bet not more than 100-150 get resold before the original buyer takes delivery and enjoys the car. Overall, that is a great success. We owe Dodge a huge thanks for this. The guys who are complaining should look at the way OTHER manufacturers treat their customers. Dodge has treated us the best I've ever witnessed (and yes, I do own a Ferrari).

Anything can be purchased it depends on how bad you want it and how much you are willing to spend, capitalism makes anything possible. It is the golden rule.

Is any car worth $800k NO. It boils down to who wants the rarest, first or only one, we all drool over the F50.

You must be registered for see images

Anyone who wants one bad enough will get one certificate or not.
