Why does the Viper use 6 lug bolts?

You are exactly right sir....it is the same hub used on the dak in the early years.:2tu:

Actually the DAKS back in the day when Vipers first started did not have the same sealed bearing / hub assembly used on the Viper. It was the conventional knuckle / spindle with the lugs in the rotors. So while it may appear to be the same, ie 6 lugs, it definitely wasn't even close except for the 6 lugs.

Ref 1995 FSM section 2-1, 1999 FSM 2-6 ...

There's another reason they did the 6 lug.

I can't believe no one else posted this, but the vette only has 5! That's why vettes are lighter, less studs, lightweight wheels, larger cargo area. Less structure, smaller car, lighter duty components, smaller tires, etc. People buy them because they have cup-holders??? Lol.

Stronger is better, especially for a race designed car. You live longer with 6.

And when I head-on'd a Semi I'm still alive because I was in a Viper.

I only use 3 per wheel for weight savings!

I hear the VOI10 edition will have 10 lugs!
