Have you ever wondered what happens to your car when it is in the shop and you are not there? I am thinking about creating a new device, about the size of a match box, which records the speed your car is driven. The device will have a port to connect to a PC so you can see what the guys at the shop are doing with your car. The device would sell for about $99. Would there be any interest in such a device?

If I create something like this, I'll do it for Gen2 cars first, then Gen1 and Gen3 shortly after? Any thoughts or comments?

I would think that if you just told your mechanic that you had one in the car it would provide as much deterrent to abuse as a real one. For those with a VEC, a valet card can be made that prevents the car from exceeding a specific rpm. I have mine set at 2500 rpm.

Yeah, I put one on my teenage son's truck that told me everywhere he went, how long he stayed, how fast he drove on the way there and how long I should ground him for when he got home.
