Well, in the world of "I'm Retired and Wife Makes All The Money", I have to wait until she gives me the go ahead to do anything to the RT. She asked me yesterday what I wanted to do next and I told her...add the factory style tail.

Now I know there are mixed feelings about the tail on the RT, but I have seen enough RT's with hardtops on that I think it balances out the look of the car. Not as needed without the hardtop, but not planning to take mine off much anyway. Here is a photo of a red RT with hardtop and tail (Looks like a '98) from Roe's site:

Here's mine yesterday...similar angle:

Right now its a cash flow issue, so as soon as some of her accounts receivables come in....I can do it!:D:D:D

Peter, I sound like a broken record buy the Mopar spoiler. The same one Tator and I have. You'll love it. I first purchased the autoform rear lip thinking/concerned about drilling holes in my trunk lid. But when it arrived and I test-fitted it on the Viper, I didn't like it. To me it did not fill out the rear and appeared as an after thought. (Yes, some can argue the same for the whale tale). Here's the pics I took of the autoform when I tried it on:

And here's the Mopar one from this weekend's Viper Days:

I'm right with ya, Tony. Purchasing the Mopar style tail that you have on your car now. Read all the posts and discussed with Chuck, he also recommended the one he has on his car. I prefer the lower/meatier look of the Mopar one.

That's also the one in the Roe picture above.

Thanks!

I'm sure it isn't. This is going to be using the reproduction wing which is sold at many places. To my knowledge, based on past Tony posts, the main difference is that the OEM Mopar wing had three mounting holes and the reproduction has two. There are a couple of places that are using the original moulds, I think Snake Oyl may be one....but, it costs more and looks the same!

Can I get a copy of those photos in High res Tony? Would it be an issue posting them on my KNG blade thread? Looks great, especially in the last photo.

I'm 99% certain that Vipair produces the Mopar-style wing that all of these vendors sell. That's where mine originated from and Steve does very nice work. The difference I found between the original factory spoiler and the copy is that the copy utilizes 2 fewer bolts than the original. The wing utilizes a total of 4 bolts vs 6 bolts with the original. Having had the wing on the Viper now for two years, I have not had any issues with it. My only suggestion is to borrow the original installation template from Tator. The reason I say this is that the paper template that comes with the copy seems to be a bit off from the original probably because it's been copied so many times. I found that the bolt holes on the template were slightly off with the bolts on the spoiler. Not a big deal if you're aware of it. The wing does come with a copy of the original factory installation instructions. One of things I thought about doing was to get a can or two of spray foam to fill up the void inside the wing to make it more rigid but there's really no point to it as it's just fine as is.

Got my Mopar spoiler from Vipair (Steve) as well. The first one that he shipped was warped as hell, but he made it right and shipped out another one right away. I had it painted to match, drilled the holes (wasn't the big emotional deal that some guys make it out to be), bolted it on and it looks great. Tony is right that the template was way off, so I had to measure carefully before I drilled.

I did have the Autoform on my previous '95 but I never thought that it looked quite aggressive enough for a Viper.

Just my (opinionated) opinion...go Mopar or don't bother. :D

Would look good on yours as well :).

I have always liked the look of that wing. The stock RT/10 seemed to be missing something, kind of like the convertible 350z. Huge ass, no wing.

Jon B. refers to it as the "M&M" effect....and he's right! :D

If he's reading, maybe he can post pics of his yellow RT/10 twins that both have the Mopar spoilers...

auto-form flows better with the car, I know it's not half as functional but imo it looks nicer especially from the rear but it's whatever you like is what really matters. Either way I like the wings on the RT/10:)

The tru Mopar accessory, wind-tunnel tested, sold out many years ago, and discontinued. It was offered RED or primered;
I tried to get Mopar to resurrect them, and so did Snake Oyl. When that failed, we each made copies.

These clones are come in plastic (ala Mopar) or CF

...........PM sent. Sorry

I like the look of the Autoform myself, flows better.

And WORD UP to Jon B, he is a good man. Does everything his says he is going to do when he says he is going to do it. Always surprises me with great pricing!

Buy from Jon B no matter what you end up buying!

I've always been a spoiler type guy on just about every car I've ever owned but to me I just can't bring myself to doing it on my 00' rt/10. IMO Vipers look so awesome just the way they are without having to add anything to them (other than maybe wheels & I actually like the stock ones too). Timnineside knows what he's talking about when it comes to JonB (he's always taken care of me, when I can get him to sell me something) like when I first got my car 8 months ago. I was gung-** with wanting to get a whole new exhaust mostly because I wanted it a lil' bit louder. After discussing it with me he told me just to do a muffler delete & see what I thought (when he could have just sold me a whole exhaust system) guess what that muffler delete sound is exactly what I wanted, I just didn't know it (he saved me alot of money). Well today I called him & ordered a set of the RT Hi-Flow cats & I didn't give him a chance to talk me out of them. I can't wait to get them in, I know they don't really add many or any more hp & maybe a lil' more rumble but I got them mostly so the side sills will be cooler (my son has a mild case of CP & its a little harder getting in & out) anything on top of that will be icing on the cake.

I got mine from Partsrack too. I think it adds a bit of downforce but I didn't buy it for functional purposes but more for aesthetics. At the track this past weekend I wasn't really thinking about the spoiler down the back straight...I was focused on my anti-toe brackets and hoping to slow down in time before the wall. :D I think at best I hit 150mph and the Viper felt planted but that could've been the PS2's and a spot on alignment. It never felt tail happy to me but can't say it was because of the spoiler. At the end of the day, just get the one that makes you happy. :2tu:

You guys made the right choice. Have seen both the Autoform and the "Mopar" in person lately, and the Mopar just looks right. Good call guys.

Install go easy? Template for the holes? Time?
