Here is the story, got the viper this spring, 1998 red GTS, drove it a bit and then i crashed it. Stupid rear brake locked up when doing a hard braking. Those brake *****. I had just finished installing the exhaust and headers... Oh well, **** happens, luckily, neither do i and the passenger are badly hurt so everything is fine. I should be receiving the insurrance money pretty soon.
Now i am debating as to which car i should get. I was able to recover my VEC2 and my widebands from the car, doubt i'll be able to recover the headers but anyway, i am trying to see if i buy an other viper or change car. I was thinking about buying an NSX because i had one for a very short period of time and miss it but i know that after the viper, the NSX is going to feel so slow...
So i beleive i might be going to a viper again.
Here is my main concern. Since i was so unlucky with the brakes, i was wondering if it was a good upgrade top buy an 01+ to get the ABS. I really like the yellow 2001 but they are expensive. Two other vipers that i really like is the silver/blue 99 ACR and the 96-97 B/W. My car was red but that is really not the color i prefer, it's just that they are cheaper.
Problem with buying any of the 3 cars i listed above is that i will need to import it (i am in Canada) which is a lot of hassle. My other option is a local, friend of mine, that could sell me a really clean 1997 red that was accidented but not salvaged (repaired it himself, he does that for a living and knows viper a lot). I could get it for like 15k less than what a 2001 yellow would cost me. probably around 10k less than what a sliver or a B/W would cost.
Also, i have a Roe supercharger i was suppose to install on my car, i might install it on the next car. I am afraid of the cream puff if i buy an 01 with the supercharger. Baiscally, why the heck isn't there a car with forged internal and abs... lol
So what do you guys think, should i go with the abs and just use the 5lbs pulley on a 2001 that will cost me more, go in between and buy a B/W or a Silver/Blue or go the cheap route and buy the 1997, keep the rest of the money and make a trip or whatever.
Buy the way, i do care about my money and have a hard time considering paying 15k more for a colour i like and abs. But then again, should i please myself and buy my dream car and be done with it?
