These new Vipers are really something else, we recently set up an ACR for track use and installed our stage 2 performance package, I received this cool response!

Hi Dan,

I think you would have been very impressed with the ACR last week. I had a private track day with some friends at Thunderhill and the ACR was spectacular. At lunch time we closed down the main straight and did rolling start drag races. From a 40mph second gear start, the ACR not only beat the ZR1 Corvette, but also beat the fastest road car Ferrari has ever built (599 GTO) by 2-3 car lengths and was pulling away hard at the end. The GTO did pull an initial lead, but could not stay ahead long. This despite paddle shift benefit on GTO and wing drag penalty on ACR. Third gear pulls are absolutely amazing in the ACR.

The ZR1 did one dead heat with the GTO and on another run lost to GTO by one car length.

This was the finishing order:

ACR
GTO
ZR1
R8(10 cyl) - RTronic shifter
997.2 GT3RS

Enjoy the attached video.

Anthony

How freaking awesome is that!! Beating a 599GTO....wow.

Biggest disappointment is the ZR1...something just seems to be missing on that car. With that much hp and good gearing it should be very near the top :dunno:

Good work on the build!

One of our members in our local C&C just took delivery of a new 599GTO. An unbelievable machine to see, hear, and drive (I'm sure). Even the jaded Ferrai tifosi were impressed. So, for the ACR to beat that, well, that IS impressive.

Are you really complaining that the Supercharged ZR1 was at a disadvantage?

Anyway, tough to be objective with rolling start races imo

No more so than if a stock ACR was racing a "tuned" ZR1 and lost.
Think the consensus would be it was a fair race?

Fun video anyway.

Yes the acr is a very impressive car, but seems alittle half ass to have a tuned viper racing two bone stock cars and claim victory......ummmm no SH%$

Probably cause it was stock?

I just remember the ZR1 getting beat in 0-60 mph and nearly also the standing mile until the very end when a stock Gen IV (non ACR car) shifted into 5th gear when compared on "Battle of the Supercars".

What I'm saying is with the ZR1's gearing advantage and claimed higher horsepower, I was just expecting more. Is a modded ACR realy apples to apples, no, but again, I expected the ZR1 to be near the top, period. Just my opinion, but I'd have some questions if I owned a ZR1.

Then again, it was probably all driver skill...good job to the ACR driver :2tu:

Cheers,
George

Hey Dan, great work as always!!!

DC's stage 2 makes 35 more hp at the flywheel than a stock ZR-1. That's not a huge advantage. Plus the ACR is held back by the rear wing drag.

The 599 GTO has identical flywheel HP and list price is about $400K. Give Dan at DC an ACR and $300K and see what he can build you!

Can't start playing that game! I bet with $25,000 and a C5 Vette you could get beat...not fair to either car. Gotta compare stock to stock to stock.

Hey Ryan, my point on the GTO is at $400K how does someone ***** that it's unfair vs. a slightly modded viper.

The same way if a modded mustang were to beat a stock viper, then start gloating about it, everyone here would say it's apples to oranges to compare a modded car to a stock one.

No one said unfair just not exactly apples to apples. What the video proves is exactly what DC wants you to see and thats if you spend the money you get to Uber A$$ whip those cars:D

Great package and that car is Rollin'!

Come on thats hardly impressive!!!!!!!!!!1 Everyone knows a stock gen4 can take a stock ZR1 till 150 mph anyways....

Now this gen3 with a few bolt ons and a Comp coupe cam taking it to the LP570-4 Superleggera is a lil more interesting

gen3 viper 0-150 mph =19.5
C6Z06..... 0-150 mph =17.5
ZR1....... 0-150 mph =17.0
gen4 Viper 0-150 mph=16.4
LP570-4... 0-150 mph =15.5

Point of the thread and video wasn't to compare stock to stock. Title of the thread says it very clearly. They got beat. Period. If they don't like it, they can mod their cars as well. Debating the cost, mods, if this then that, is pointless. Never understood it.

Agreed. Theirs a lot of camaro owners who paid 35K plus another 7K for a heads and cam package than can take a gen2 or gen3 Viper someone paid 70-90K for.

At the end of the day you either win or lose. People are so secretive about modifications that you never really know if the car you beat was stock or not.

Quite a few c6Z06 owners with a ported intake and tune for an extra 30 rwhp that no one would ever know about visually

I modded my GTS so I wouldnt get spanked by cars that are "close" in performance. Really surprises 'em, and I love it!

~590 rwhp, ~580rwtq

Goes from 0-to-handcuffs in 3 seconds.
