Had to have a side sill redone and it is a perfect match. It definitely depends on the skill of the painter as well. Too thick of a coat will appear different. The painter I used checked the sill in fluorescent, natural and incandescent light before he approved the job. I am fanatical about...
I would agree whole heartedly with using an orbital buffer with the Zaino micro polishing compound Z-PC. While a clay bar works wonders, it only removes imperfections on top of the finish. If you have swirls, a clay bar will not help them. Another thing is the cotton towels. They were good...
As I had posted in a previous thread about this, I am eagerly awaiting the carbon deflectors to be made for my Gen 2 GTS. I have seen these up close now and was very pleasantly surprised by how nice the fit and finish is with these.
I am extremely particular when it comes to after market...
This may be out of place with all the newer Vipers, but I saw Steve's yesterday and they looked great on the ACR. I am very interested in getting a set of these for my GTS as my new Pilot Sport's arrive this week.
No pics, no car. I know for a fact at least one of your cell phones has a camera on it! :rolaugh:
By the way, Tammy says Cora wants a ride...give an old lady a thrill per Tammy ;)
See you at coffee.
Hi Scott,
I am so glad the purchase worked out for you. Thank you for your kind words. It is nice to see someone who appreciates a sapphire as much as I do! If you have questions about how to make that finish really pop, please let me know, you can call me or send me an e-mail and I will...
The crossover frequency will vary depending on which speakers you choose provided it is an adjustable crossover. It will also depend on your hearing and what your personal taste is. Don't be surprised if you go with a good separate speaker system if you have to attenuate the tweeters. They...
Hey Viperrt96,
I am actually living in Brownsburg now, but will try and head north after my show that day. There are several ways to go to Morris. I actually usually head west at the Remington exit off 65 and snake back roads to 55 and then to 47. Not sure if I will head that way this time...
Re: What do you guys all do for a living??
I make sure those generic drugs spoken of earlier are doing what they are supposed to and the dose is correct. My other job is a professional musician. :2tu:
Hey Troy,
I think they are usually parked down Liberty Street which is the main "drag" so to speak. There are several parks just off Liberty where some may be parked too. As soon as I can get confirmation that I will be free that evening I will post. If I can come, please save me a spot...
I spoke to my father and he said there were over 700 entries for last month. They broke a record. There should be a lot of cool cars there. I have commitments until about 4:30 (3:30 Illinois time) that day but could head up after that. I would be there around 7 or so. Please post what area...
Too funny, I grew up in Morris and my parents still live there. Never thought I would see a town of 11,000 appear on this site. I may have to drive up with my GTS for a visit.
How many are thinking of being there?
Leslie,
Just another thought. When you stereo is on have you felt your amplifier? If it is running extremely hot, then I would definitely say that it is wired wrong. Today's amps really do not run as hot as older ones so if there is significant heat, there is a problem.
Your water discovery...
Hey Leslie,
Steve called me today about your problem. He did not mention it was you, but a local member so I assume by this post it was you. I have extensive after market stereo work in my GTS. Are you running power cables from the amp directly to the battery? I am running a large Alpine...
One thing to remember is the Zaino Z5 does not actually remove the swirls, it just fills them in. There is actually no buffing compound in Z5. The only buffing compound Zaino offers is the new one. I think it is Z2 if I remember correctly.
Another point to consider is the color of your car...
I replaced all speaker wiring with high quality braided cables. These cars have a history of alternator whine coming through the speakers and I had to experiment with a couple different cables before I was satisfied. From what I understand, if you replace your plug wires with larger wires you...
You will find as you upgrade stereo components, you will hear the imperfections or short comings of the remaining stock components. The stock amplifier that comes in the car is junk. They may say Alpine, but they are actually Alpine "made for Dodge". You will be hard pressed to find any...
Hello AB,
I think you might want to try the new polishing compound from Zaino. I used to be a die hard 3M user as far as finish correction, but traded it when I used the new Zaino product. I have also used all of Meguire's compounds as well as Griot's.
I did half of the hood on my new...
Don't waste your time with the cotton towels. Micro Fiber is the way to go. I used the towels at first and kept getting scratches and I had Fieldcrest! I really like the Griot's micro fiber cloths. Be careful of cheaper micro fiber cloths, they use cheaper polyester yarn on the edjes that...
Hey Michael,
You have to ditch that retail life. I am typing this while on a break at the hospital I work at. I cannot remember the last time I had to look at an insurance card! Wait, yes I can, it was my own. :D
Don't know if I would know how to function in retail anymore. Glad the...
