I must be dreaming...

oops...damn...that thing was a Fiero...but actually, it was Fiero panels on a full race front-engine tube chassis and did have one badass sounding SBC in it. I guess I was a little distracted taking pics with one hand (don't tell Phil or Bernie about this).

    I must be dreaming...

The Viper never ceases to amaze me. Back on Sept. 9-11, the local Gateway Viper Club participated in the "Monster Mopar Weekend" held at Gateway International Raceway just east of St. Louis (thanks Dave!). I had previously put my bone stock '00 RT/10 (original Pilots) on road courses, but had...

Would this be insane? *rhetorical question*

The "30-year old technology" is basically a reference to the combustion chamber/valve configuration and the traditional pushrod design. It looks to me very much like the old "closed chamber" BBC heads--valves shrouded rather deeply into oval pockets. Also, the all-important venturi area just...

Would this be insane? *rhetorical question*

I've always been a firm believer that the aluminum really doesn't know if it has a bowtie, oval, penta-star, or other insignia on it. The reason they'd flow just as well is because they would have the same valve layout and chamber design as other state-of-the-art heads. More than likely, they'd...

Would this be insane? *rhetorical question*

Would this be insane? *I realize this is a rhetorical question* As I read about people questioning if there may be hidden NOS systems on some fast Vipers & other cars, I'm reminded of why I don't care for power adders in general. Please understand, this is just a personal opinion and I do...

    Weird start up, need help.

I have exactly the same symptoms after um...er..."spirited" driving (not on the roads). I just checked and the air box is perfectly dry. Actually, I figure this on balance a good thing--means the ring seal is great. If it were huffing death smoke and pushing blowby into the box, the repair would...

    First dyno pulls !!!

Great going! I'd love to see pics of the installation and any info/tweaks you went thru in the setup. Thanks! Bob PS: Oh boy...my 2000 RT/10 with 3400 miles on the odometer just started a little steaming/burning antifreeze smell from the exhaust. It dissipates when the engine is warm...

Did anyone happen to notice the Vette in that group of SCCA cars? Comments welcome. Bob ;)

Latest serious threat to the Viper...

So many cars have been introduced that appear to be genuine threats to the Viper as far as perforance and sheer head-yanking ability. Guys, my heart sank when I found this one...the Serbo-Croation engineers have been hard at work and it looks like they're really out for blood this time. The...

    First time on the racetrack...

Darn the luck! I have to do a Holley carb school in Ohio this weekend. It still bothers me that I couldn't make the winery event. I'll stay in touch and we'll find some time to get with you guys again soon. Bob

    First time on the racetrack...

Funny you'd mention that...I actually DID have the AC turned on until I noticed...that was after passing all those guys. *wink* As far as the black grit on the back of the car body, it laughed at the Simple Green, but came right off with the WD-40. Thanks everybody...this is a great place to...

    First time on the racetrack...

Thanks guys, I'll try the Simple Green and the WD-40. Me? Get addicted to the road course? *shake, sweat, mind drifting, staring at Viper...*

    First time on the racetrack...

There weren't many requirements for this event, but should have your own racing helmet (they have only two "loaners"). Check your private messages...I'm sending you the phone number I have for Phil. He's quite an interesting guy and a real gentleman.

    First time on the racetrack...

As Viper owners know, the Dodge Viper is one of the most remarkable vehicles ever produced. Previously, I have enjoyed the timeless styling & the way it turns heads, the feeling of nearly 400 lbs/ft of torque at 1500 rpms, and the way it responds to the slightest steering input. However...

    Painted cowl - picture

Wow...the car looks great, buddy. Details make the difference. Hey...tomorrow's my birthday (don't ask...it's a BIG one)...let's get together soon. I've been hearing about your water leakage problems and...maybe I can lend some help? OH! I have to brag a little here. Dyno day--my bone stock 2000...

Someone needs to write a book

A pdf book is the way to go, at least at first. In low printing/binding quantity (under 1000 units), it costs about $12-$20/per (for a laminated color cover Perfect Bound book w/black & white Docutech generated internal pages). With a pdf file, we get away from that. People could download it...

Someone needs to write a book

I never said I'd be putting the book together for profit! It takes 6 months to 2 years of continuous work to create a respectable book. Obviously, I couldn't do this, except in spare time. At that rate, it would drag on for years before release. If a book is to happen, I'd need a LOT of help...

Someone needs to write a book

Well, RX..."mods" is a four-letter word as far as "management" is concerned. I'm supposed to pay this thing off first (halfway there) before I can touch it. Yeah, right...so...I'm just eeeeeeaaaassssiiinnnnggg into the mods. A set of K&N filters here, a chrome emblem there...so slowly, she...

Someone needs to write a book

That's a very intriguing idea...that's just what I do. I'm a relatively new Viper owner, but already feeling some of the frustrations as I try to find the correct information...check out my site and let's talk. http://www.racetechprograms.com RC

    HELP NO HEAT

I had the same thing happen on mine...it was really easy to fix, if this is the cause of your problem... The cable from the temp. control knob (blend door cable) had come off the heater/AC box (right side, under hood). I'm sure I knocked it off while doing some really anal-retentive cleaning...

quote:
Originally posted by GregGood/TNT: The Viper heads also have a flat valve angle.
