Drag Radials.... does anyone use them for normal street driving?

They are fine for everyday driving in dry/above freezing weather. You'll only get into trouble when you attempt to drive in an aggresive manner, i.e. sharp turns. The fact that they are radials is what provides for the ability to use 'daily', again, provided you are just toolin' around town...

Towing Viper on this Trailer Question

You got alot of feedback there.....main thing to remember, towing is not about the 'go' power. It is about controlled stopping power. So check your rigs brakes, and if no on trailer; don't tailgate and take your time. And test your stopping distance and if the trailer wants to wiggle-so...

Basic AMP draw study on 98 GTS

BOLT I'm an accomplished mechanic, built several blah blah.......and tuned them....shot a rocket to the moon too......anyway. I think alot of myself and know nearly everything. After an 8 month hiatus from the forum, I looked through the forums tonight and found your article fascinating NEW...

    120,000 miles

Super to hear you've enjoyed your buggy for so many miles, including road racing and drag racing. And on top of that, so few problems. I also enjoy my GTS, bought it used with 800 miles and just flipped 36,000 with 100% Zero Fail miles. It's a keeper just like my original owner 1987 Grand...

Lighthearted fun...which car gets the most looks, Gen II or III/IV?

bdelass snip <<But after all, the '08 is SSG in color with black stripes.....you know the color....."just give me the ticket already officer, green". And I thought the '97 was bad for drawing attention, but I've literally had 17 year old kids doing drive-by photo shoots at stop lights and gas...

ok guys my engine buid with pics

Vipzilla, Thank you for taking time to snap photos of your progress. It is great for us DIYers that have not yet 'dug deep' into the motor; beyond & below the intake manifold. Your photos provides nice information, before I start my cam swap I intend to tackle later this year.....July in Texas.

    Valve cover breather needed

I never found a 'cool' looking breather cap, till I came across this thread. I like that cap reference as a mudstang car (?). I may rethink what I have done, after seeing the nicer beathers in this thread. Anyway, if you still want to get the same breather affect, you can "T" into the vacuum...

    Timing Advance on N/A Tune

I've had good luck with adding up to 8 degrees at certain load/rpm points while adding less than 2ms on fueling. WOT AFR at 11.7 to 12.2 with no knock, and very cool motor temps <190. On the 'other side', w/a 200 Nitrox Shot, I tune to a 11.5 AFR and actually pull 4 degress everywhere...

So how much tuning is involved with a 100 hp shot of nitrous?

You've received excellent advice from 'users'. One more point, ESPECIALLY on a small shot like 100; BE SURE to only hit it with bottle pressure over 950. Even better 1050. It is very easy to become disppointed with a 100 wet shot if you accidently try it out at 800 or 900 psi. It just will not...

Roe Supercharger or Extreme Nitrous System???

Oh man.... a custom Hogan intake and direct port.....that will be a show stopper, and will make great power numbers too boot. You can also dress up the interior with various lite/buttons in reference to controlling the nitrous, i.e. LED switches for the bottle heater(s), bottle opener, arming...

Who is selling programmers for the DIYer?

Esteemed Colleagues: Are any vendors selling PCM flash programmers wherein you can create/modify your own tune?:dunno: I did some searching and only came across programmers that limit you to 2 or 3 vendor provided custom tunes with the option to have the vendor 'fine tune' via your provided...

Roe Supercharger or Extreme Nitrous System???

Opinions needed eh? For show and tell, the nitrous system will have a better GAWK factor with great looking bottles in the back and chromed selenoids, mounts, and lines for up front under the hood. The Viper motor is one of the best looking out there, I think better looking than a blower stuck...

    GTS Finally Finished

Cheers ! Looks great. The Gen I sidepipes look fine, and match your black stripes. More than likely, the 'local' car guys will think it is OEM. I like what you said too. You're gonna keep it forever, and you built it to your standards and taste ! I still have my circa 1987 Grand National...

Shared parts between Vipers and other brands.

I am checking into the Dana 44 pumkin for my 2002 GTS. I want a spare with shorter gears, such as 3.55s or 3.73s. Preliminary information indicates the pumkin is the same as the one used in manual transmission C4's; but specific for years 1987-1994? I'll continue checking.... Neal

Drag Radial and inexpensive rear rims

I just ordered some of those :omg: M/T ET Street Radial IIs. The size I've been waiting for is finally here, the 345/35/18. I've had very good luck/times running these, albeit a smaller size, on my Grand National. They wear a little faster than the Nittos (2nd choice), but the M/T are the...

Nitrous - Info to select Window Settings and Cam

I use a Texas Nitrous Technology kit with a plate installed between the TB and Intake. Actually I prefer the plate closest to the intake manifold. There is less time for the liquid Nitrox to turn to a gas.....a no no (explained in post #1 above). So use a plate or mount as close to intake...

Nitrous - Info to select Window Settings and Cam

You da' man ! I run it at 3200 on and 5700 off; with a 6200 redline (VecII); 200 shot. I know you've been there done that and now have a stroker....but when you ran the 488ci, did you stick with a stock cam? Have any used, great condition used 488ci parts? Neal 2002 GTS - Nitrox and VecII

    Cylinder Heads

:usa: HEAD QUESTION I understand the Gen III head is a 'factory' ported version of the Gen II. Are there flow numbers comparing the two - stock for stock? Or can you point to a site that already has this info? Will the early Gen III bolt right up to a Gen II car? DC SERVICE QUESTION...

Nitrous - Info to select Window Settings and Cam

I've been running nitrous since when TBI motors were 'IT" and SFI was but a dream (pre-Grand National) nevertheless, I continue to educate my noodle by reading various theories, application, and tune tune tune it on my motors. Very often I see inquiries about window switch settings, cam...

Question for the paxton guys out there..

Possibly too much fuel pressure. For every pound of boost, you should see 1 to 2 pounds more fuel pressure. 100 is WAY to high and may cause the injectors to actually 'stick' open on occasion. Also, it may be as simple as reducing the spark plug gap. Before you go digging 'deep' into the...

150 Shot Safe on stock Motor?

On the street/street tires (not drag radials) you won't need halfshafts. But in a 'sticky' situation, e.g. the track, then you may need to upgrade the shafts.
