I had a scratched up silver 1 in my 05'. Had it painted yellow last summer. Not thrilled with appearance (to much yellow inside) but it was an easy sand and paint for a local body shop.
Like everyone else I get this question all the time. Response depends on how they ask. Also met a number of guys who have a brother in-law, friend or somebody that has a "faster" car then the Viper. Must be the cruise nights I go to.
I work with a couple of track day HPDE organizations as an instructor in New England. We do not get paid so there is no cost to the participants beyond the track day. Take a ride and then drive with an instructor. You'll learn a lot in short period of time making your experiences much more...
You can service it yourself for a lot less. My dealer charges $79.99 for the service. I know we use full synthetic and pretty sure it requires 8 quarts of oil. That's $40 for oil and $10-$12 for a filter to do it yourself.
Took out my MGW knob and replaced it with a Dave' Viper shop shifter adapter and a Delrin shift knob from Product Innovations
Nice feel. Easy installation
I've got about 400 miles on a new set of Super Sports. Not sure if my comparison is fair. Had about 5 year old PS 2's when I bought my car. Drove them a couple hundred miles
and replace with SS when I bought new wheels. As noted above they hook and hold much better than the PS 2's.
Just took the original out of an 05' with 38K. Didn't sound to strong when I started the car. Recently bought the car used and didn't want to risk getting stuck due to an $80 battery failure.
Had leaky lines on my 05' at purchase. Had 38K mi. New lines no leaks. Although I'm new here learned from other owners it's a very common issue as noted above.
Recently had my Viper serviced at Gengras in East Hartford. Got good prompt service from nice people. Have purchased 3 other vehicles there and always had excellent service.
They have 2 techs that were Viper certified still pretty up on the cars. Not much demand in our area so not many techs...
I am a new owner too! 5 weeks this past Thursday. Have owned a number of classic, replica, race and new cars over the last 25 years (no Vette wasn't ever a fan). I'm enjoying the experience far more than I expected. Wife and daughter both enjoy it too.
I love the car and this forum! Lot's of...
Found the radio reception problem. Had a bad aftermarket antenna adapter. While I was in there I decided to replace a Clarion pop up NAV unit with a new
Pioneer HD iphone compatible radio. Easy to use and it sounds pretty good too!
Also had the dash and console painted to match the car...
Camera phone in the garage. Not the best place for a pic. Don't want to get banned.....
i'll take some outside during the day and post them up later in the week.
Hank that's a great photo! Anybody you know?
My new 6 spoke wheels were delivered from VPA on Friday. Had set new set of Michelin Pilot SS tires mounted on the wheels and brought the car home tonight.
The wheels look great. Quality and finish is what I expected (excellent). Thanks to Chris @ VPA for helping me out with a few other...
4 weeks of ownership and I'm really enjoying my first Viper.
I'm having a problem with really bad FM reception. I bought my 05 SRT with an aftermarket Clarion NZ500 sound & navigation system. The head unit is an
inexpensive model although it sounds ok with CD, ipod, Pandora etc.
I took...
Thanks for all the feedback.
The cost for most of the services was pretty reasonable.
$79.99 for oil & filter, $99 for rear end service, $79 for trans service & $150 for flush coolant.
The hoses were expensive. $470 total $200 parts and $270 labor ($100 an hour)
Also bought a second remote (car...
