19\" wheels question

will 19" wheels have any adverse effects? speedo calibration, handling, etc. I have finally decided I want just a little more of those gaping wheelwells filled in, waaay to much space

Re: 19\" wheels question

Only 19" rear tires are about 1.3" too tall. Fronts very close to OE. This results in a rear rolling circumfrence about 5.7% too much. Its like a 3.24 gear !

Speedo sez 50, going 53.5
Speedo sez 100, going 106.

There is a speedo kit to correct it if you are concerned.

The higher C.G. is ok on a street car......you may want to add 5/8 " lower spring caps to lower the rear.

I understand how the speedo reads a lower speed than what the car is actually going. But with a taller tire and the speedo reading the way it does, wouldn't it make the gear seem higher like in the 2.8 range. If it was a lower gear wouldn't the speedo read higher than the car is actually going, like when a smaller tire is used.
